Too much haste, too much greed, too little prudence can get you killed. There may be gold in them that hills but if your not prepared for the worst you'll get the worst. Check with Donner.
I tired to check with Donner, but as it happens, I was late for dinner. It seems everyone's eaten.
Cool, good on them. The more options we have the better.
Oh i would like to add its never too late and you will never ALWAYS be number one.
Yea sounds like it could be trouble for Nokia, but we'll have to wait and see whether the phones are any good or if windows 8 on mobile devices can compete with the goliaths that are Android and iOS.
I am not getting the reference here. May I ask someone to clue me in?

I'm guessing this is supposed to be a reference to the Donner party, the pioneers who tried migrating to California, but caught trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevadas and ended up resorting to cannibalism. Except this was before the gold rush, so they weren't actually attempting it because of gold in the hills, just the general promise of unclaimed land.
I don't think this is greed at all, are their competitors greedy for running on the same business model?
They have been churning out mobile OS's (though lackluster) that have played 2nd fiddle in terms of hardware and design and they are trying to change that. Imagine you we're a company developing super powerful yet very efficient car engine but car manufacturers keep putting them into Smart cars... To keep your company afloat you might just start designing your own car to showcase your engine.
