Edge-to-edge glass is the new "in" thing, as witnessed on such beautiful devices as the Motorola RAZR M. ViewSonic's hoping to grab a little bit of that attention with its new VX70Smh-LED series of LCDs. The company just introduced the 27" VX2770Smh-LED, 23" VX2370Smh-LED and 22" VX2270Smh-LED, all of which boast a frameless bezel, SuperClear IPS panel and a Full HD (1080p) screen resolution. These also pack 178-degree viewing angles, base mounted speakers and a host of video inputs, including HDMI and DVI. The 27" VX2770Smh-LED and 23" VX2370Smh-LED will be available in early October for respective ESPs of $319 and $189. A 22" version within this Series (VX2270Smh-LED) is expected to be available in early December for an ESP of $159. Not too shabby for monitors of this stature, huh?

ViewSonic's New VX70Smh-LED Series Delivers Professional Grade IPS LED Panel in a Sexy Frameless Bezel Design

ViewSonic Monitors Feature Wide Viewing Angles and Ultra High Dynamic Contrast Ratios for Entertainment and Gaming

WALNUT, CA, Oct 01, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual solution products, today announced its brand new VX70Smh-LED Series, with several size options including the 27" VX2770Smh-LED, 23" VX2370Smh-LED and 22" VX2270Smh-LED.

The VX70Smh-LED Series features a professional grade widescreen SuperClear IPS panel with a frameless bezel for displays that look as good as they perform. The Full HD 1920x1080 screen resolution with an impressive 30,000,000:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio and wide 178-degree viewing angles deliver an extraordinary level of visual clarity. Base mounted speakers with SRS Premium Sound(R) and an external power supply allows for an ultra slim design. Paired with several video inputs including HDMI(R) and DVI with HDCP (High Definition Content Protection), this Series is an excellent choice for entertainment and gaming.

This environmentally friendly, mercury-free Series delivers an energy savings of up to 40% against comparatively sized displays. ViewSonic's Eco-mode feature furthers these savings by helping extend display life. Teamed with a standard 3-year limited warranty and the industry's best pixel performance policy, even the most discerning display user can feel confident in their investment.

"Our new VX70Smh-LED Series offers the best combination of performance and features in the industry, and we've sweetened the deal by packaging it up in a beautiful frameless bezel design," said Erik Willey, LCD monitor and PC product marketing director at ViewSonic. "Available in a range of sizes, these displays are ideal for consumers, gamers and multimedia enthusiasts alike."

The 27" VX2770Smh-LED and 23" VX2370Smh-LED will be available in early October for respective ESPs of $319 and $189. A 22" version within this Series (VX2270Smh-LED) is expected to be available in early December for an ESP of $159.

Isn't that a frame around the whole screen? I don't get it...

Yeah, the term confused me at first as well. It means that the glass is edge-to-edge, but there is still a thin bezel beneath the glass. I don't really see the point, aside from having a thin bezel. You can have a thin bezel without edge-to-edge glass...

The 27" for $319.00 is good deal.

I have a ViewSonic 22" screen that I won here at HotHardware years ago and it's a very nice screen,....quality built and great color too.

Dogs are great judges of character, and if your dog doesn't like somebody being around, you shouldn't trust them.

I'm a bit torn in the middle. This monitor is great, especially just having an IPS panel is great, but for gamers like me it's hard to get away from 120hz after you've started using them.

I guess I don't understand the term frameless. I was expecting to see something different.
