Acer should have thought of that during all the years they were pumping out commodity garbage. Microsoft wouldn't have to release Surface if companies like Acer were able to compete in this market. Microsoft is going to show them how the adults do it.
Should be considered a possible wake up call for mediocrity rather than a threat to an ecosystem ...considering the never ending build -up of landfills.
"Don't Panic ! 'cause HH got's your back!"
Microsoft tries to stick its hand into pretty much everything.
"You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new."
Oh poor Asus you couldn't build something as good and now you want to cry about it.... pfft welcome to life boy.
They really need to get over themselves competition is here and thank god for it.
How about you get your finger out of your ass and build something better then cry about it Mr Wang.
"Microsoft tries to stick its hand into pretty much everything."
And?
RiCoFrost: Oh poor Asus you couldn't build something as good and now you want to cry about it.... pfft welcome to life boy.
*Acer :P
Microsoft are more than entitled to produce and sell hardware in the marketplace. Just because they make the OEM software, doesn't mean they cannot use that software themselves on a product.
Case in point: Asetek and CoolIT. These two OEM's produce almost all closed loop coolers on the market. Asetek makes the Antec, Thermaltake and Arctic products, and CoolIT make the Corsair products (+ others.).. but they also distribute and sell their own products.
Is there a problem here? No.
the problem with Microsoft is they and Apple feel threatened with competition. So they either completely bypass system and call something old something new with a different name. If competition comes up they either bog them down in so many patent lawsuits and coerce software developers into not making their software available for other devices.
They got enough weight to just outright push others out of market. Its like word perfect novell at one point had a multi billion dollar office program that was dominant. Till microsoft just happened to change some code making it incompatible for a 6 month period. During that period microsoft happened to just release new version of office and all of a sudden they are the only game in town.
Microsoft is not conducive of competition stamp it out trample and pay off the courts to ignore the 100s of antitrust laws they violated.
Rico, Asus has the second best selling line of tablets next to Apple, makes a killer product in laptops, netbooks tablets and Ultrabooks and is way better suited to compete with Apple.
Look for windows entracne to be a large distraction, that leads to competitive innovation that stretches a market. Microsoft has the Apple advantage of a more integrated natural feel, and we will have to see what other manufacturers can come up with.
