New GPUs are a dime a dozen these days, but GPUs made expressly for professionals are certainly harder to come by. Today, AMD is addressing that concern by launching the world's most powerful workstation graphics line -- or so it says. The new FirePro W9000, W8000, W7000 and W5000 cards are engineered specifically for graphic professionals, aimed at the workstation market instead of the consumer gaming market. Essentially, these guys are built to crank through CAD calculations, Maya models or any other advanced computational programs. Using AMD's own Eyefinity technology, these GPUs can drive up to six, 30" panels via Multi-Stream Transport (MST) hubs. Talk about surrounding yourself with work.

None of these guys are cheap, however. The lower-end W5000 starts at $599, with the top-end W9000 costing a staggering $3999. More details on the lot can be found below.

AMD Launches World's Most Powerful Workstation Graphics Line1 - Provides Unmatched Improvements in Productivity and Workflow

Doesn't look like I'll be needing this for awhile. My 3D modelling skills in Blender are pretty lacking hahah. My models are too low poly to need something like this.

I dont see these coming close to Nvidias offerings both currently and upcoming Kepler based. The Fermi based quadro's Destroyed AMDs offerings on both a price/performance. Looking over the press release, it seems as though these will compete with the Fermi based cards, though will be smoked by the Kepler. Benchmarks will give us all the answers for sure.

AMD seems to be getting pounded by Nvidia on one side and by Intel on the other, their strong point has been low price and good performance, however they seem to be slipping farther down the line and their products just don't seem to be the same quality/price bargain they used to be.

though the small netbooks and laptops markets have done pretty well with the AMD Vision proccesors, somewhat of an abomination i anytype of a real computer but passable in a smaller setting.
