Over the weekend, NVIDIA announced the dual-GK104 powered GeForce GTX 690. If you missed the announcement, the details are available right here. While we’re not able to give you the full run-down on the GeForce GTX 690’s performance just yet, we did uncover one more details we wanted to share. Last week, NVIDIA sent some pry bars out to members of the press with “For Use In Case of Zombies Or...” laser etched into the bars’ surface, adjacent to the NVIDIA claw logo. Well, we’ve just found out exact what those pry bars were for...
When the doorbell rang this morning, we weren’t greeted by a zombie apocalypse (I think that’s happening on Friday BTW). But what we thought was a GeForce GTX 690 arrived in some rather unique packaging. Our GeForce GTX 690 arrived encased in a wooden crate, branded with a cautionary warning that some “weapons grade gaming power” was enclosed within. Needless to say, that pry bar came in mighty handy, because you know we didn’t waste any time ripping that GTX 690 from its box. Enjoy the geek porn for now, and stay tuned to HH for the full scoop on the GeForce GTX 690 in a couple of days.
Should of teased us with the crowbar when it arrived first :P. Send it out with the grand prize winner of the tablet sweepstake xD. Im liking the design on the GPU, looks real nice.
Do all the 690s from nvidia come in a crate like that?
Only asking because it is a $1000 gpu.
No, they're not going to ship like that to customers. NVIDIA's just having some fun with the tech press. :)

That is certainly Drool-Worthy, looking forward to some benches and the review :)
"I have the power!!"
Great look to the card. If the performance matches, it will be epic.
Dogs are great judges of character, and if your dog doesn't like somebody being around, you shouldn't trust them.
Can't wait to see the stats for this beauty. :-)
Looks like that could fit at least two Zotac ZBOXs inside that 690 :)
I wanna see this baby's benchmarks!
...On a top tier ivy-bridge machine!
Can it be done HotHardware?!
This is where micro-ATX gets even.
Will be tested on Sandy Bridge-E...higher end than Ivy...
That card is a beast and I love that nVidia likes to have fun with things. Hope that crowbar is American made lol.
Just look at all that beautiful metal on that card. A card I can only dream of but can't wait to see what it can do and if 1 card can beat 2 680's
A pretty sweet gimmick!
I can hardly wait to see what your testing reveals.
What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?
