Android 4.0 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) has been available for a little while now, but many carriers and manufacturers are still working hard to roll out official updates. Today, Samsung began rolling out an Android 4.0 update to its unlocked Galaxy S II devices in America. While users of carrier-branded Galaxy S II devices will continue to wait for an update, there are plenty of carriers and manufacturers that are working on updates of their own.
According to details shared with Droid Life, Verizon Wireless is getting ready to release an Android 4.0 update for the Motorola Xoom (3G/4G) tablet as well as the HTC Rezound smartphone. Both of these devices are expected to get Ice Cream Sandwich in the next two to three weeks.
The Motorola Xoom tablet is expected to receive the update first. Rumored dates currently suggest the update will begin rolling out on April 23. This update will be for the 3G/4G version of the Xoom. The Wi-Fi only version of the Xoom tablet began receiving updates to Ice Cream Sandwich in January.
Verizon Wireless is expected to begin rolling out an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Rezound on May 9. Various sites claimed the Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx were scheduled to receive an update to Ice Cream Sandwich on April 4, but that didn't pan out. It appears Motorola and Verizon are having some issues with the Android 4.0 update. The companies have not said when the official Ice Cream Sandwich update for Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx will be made available.
No waiting involved for me, even though I have a Dutch T-Mobile SII. Just got my phone this morning, hooked it up to KIES, and now rocking 4.0.3 on my new toy. :)
Heh. I got the itch too. Alien 7 (4.0.3) now on my Skyrocket as well.

"We've also heard mention that the Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx will be receiving an update soon, possibly as early as April 4."
April 4? What, 2013? Maybe I should just root the dang thing already, I'm getting tired of waiting for Motorolla and Verizon to get their act together.
Timaeus is right - April 4 came and went and Droid Razr and Droid Razr Maxx users were left in the cold. I've updated the story to be a bit more clear on that. Sorry for any confusion. Hopefully the update will come soon - it's frustrating to keep being put on hold for ICS!
Dam miss read thought at&t was releasing a samsung galaxy update.
I hate when "articles" quote rumors created from false doctored images. It just causes more problems and makes companies that never promised anything look bad because people always blame the companies not the idiot that thought it would be fun to start a pathetic rumor.
