According to HWBot, the world record for memory overclocking has fallen again. Christian Ney, a Swiss overclocker, hit DDR3-3736MHz with a 4GB G.Skill RipjawZ DIMM. He used liquid nitrogen to keep the processor and memory cool, down to -197 degree C both at idle and under load.

The screenshots of CPU-Z tell the tale. The memory was set to timings of 11 (CAS), 13 (RAS to CAS delay), 13 (RAS precharge), 36 (tRAS cycle time).

Ney’s rig consisted of the aforementioned G.Skill memory as well as an AMD A8-3870K processor, Voodoo3 2000 PCI (Avenger) graphics card, Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4H motherboard, 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD, and a 750W X-Series PSU.

Remember kids, this guy is a pro. Don’t try this at home. Actually, scratch that--do try this at home, but be careful with that liquid nitrogen, and bear in mind that you'll probably be voiding some warranties in the process.

He Sure went all out with that video card!

I think its great that these guys fool around with these LN2 setups and whatnot but I really do find it rather pointless.

It's like a car manufacturer making an engine that can output 1000KW and 1000Nm for 45 seconds and then you need to stop for 1 day before you can drive further.

Very cool. G. Skill has been making some very nice quality memory :)

Speaking of G. Skill does anyone know if the Ripjaws Z quad channel kits are compatible with a Phantek air cooler?

Otherwise I will probably go with the Ares series.
