I think Trenton is referring to global numbers, the numbers you are using are US numbers.

Worldwide sales are harder to get good numbers on, but available data doesn't favor this conclusion. PS3 sales have jumped in the few days since Sony announced this move, but XBox sales surged upwards (by 25-40%) earlier this spring, possibly as a result of the PSN outage.
Total sales to date stand at ~55 million XBox 360s, ~52 million PS3s, and ~87 million Wii's.
Given that both European and US economies have been extremely jittery of late, it's incredibly unlikely that global figures for anyone look much better than the US results.
