id Software's long-awaited FPS Rage is set to ship in October. When it launches, it'll be the first game to feature id's newest graphics engine, dubbed id Tech 5. With expectations running high in the wake of the latest game trailer shown at QuakeCon last week, we've put together an article to examine the merits of both the game and the technology behind it... Rage: The Tech Behind Id Tech 5
I for one am jacked for this game when it comes out in a couple months!

id Tech 5 sounds pretty BA and the game looks pretty sweet as well. I like the idea of unique environments instead of seamless with dirt maps opens up a whole new can of worms. I'm also excited for DOTA2.....
Now you're just mashing it!
I'm more curious about the underlying technology and, I admit, about Doom 4. I loved the classic Doom series and loved the *look* of Doom 3, right up until I actually played the game. I'm hoping the next game will keep the fabulous monster design but offer gameplay and level interaction that doesn't scream 1997. Even the original Half Life offered better monster AI and team mechanics than D3, and I'd really like to see that change.
Wow this might be the first game that looks like an RPG that isn't and i would like. RPG takes forever and is boring to me :P. This looks promising! So much good games coming out in the coming months! :D
"Agreed with Inspector, RPG's have never ever caught my attention, except when someone launches me one Or I launch one at them(Get The Joke? RPG , No? OK) Anyhow, this game looks great , nice eyecandy, but I wont buy anytime soon, cause frankly, I'm quite tired of going after monsters and Zombies for the moment. All Eyes and Ears on Battlefield 3, just saw the Caspian Border Multiplayer Trailer and could not stop drooling."
I waited for Duke to be released for a long time. Then I read some of the reviews and because most of them didn't like the game, I didn't buy it. (it was disappointing)
This game is probably the most interesting that I've seen since then.
Dogs are great judges of character, and if your dog doesn't like somebody being around, you shouldn't trust them.
I've seen trailers about this and so far, any game that has this level of immersion has me excited. I've played Doom 3 with visual enhance and I'll admit, it is fun but with Id Tech 5 powering it and with the level of detail Id has inserted into it, I suspect Rage will be the most-wanted game of the year.
I'm interested in Doom 4 but I want to see something from it before I get excited about it.
"The future starts with you; now start posting more!"
I am just glad to see ID coming out with something like this concept wise. I mean they came out with DOOM which is of course not the greatest now, but it was the standard at it's time which I remember well, as was Quake after it. So I am glad to see ID with something new. I might check it out, but I am currently in a beta which takes my attention when I have gaming time.
Really excited for when this one hits the market as well. I have been craving a good shooter lately and this one will keep me occupied with that until BF and COD. Some other great titles this month too look out for Deus EX, From Dust, and Bastion. Some great titles to hold me out until Sept 6th: DEAD ISLAND, woot!!
"I have the power!!"
Loox sick! Do want!!!
No upcoming sp campaign has me more excited than Infinite though.
Skyrim is my most wanted game of the year but seeing as those are far off my next big game is Deus Ex in August followed by Dead Island early September.
Doom 3 "with visual enhance?" What's this?
"visual enhancements"... Sorry about that...
Anyway, that is Doom 3 with Siikmodd 1.1, Rygel Extreme Quality Graphics Mod, A Parallax Mapping Mod and an Enhanced models mod.
That sounds rather interesting. It's been years since I revisited Doom 3--might be worth a look.
Looking forward to this woo-hoo def my kinda game .Going to be watching this .and wanting to play .Could definelty use the overall health & attitude adjustment from this experience..just my cup of Fun ! .
Still got Doom3 and Prey running natively in Linux on my older PC .come to think of looking forward to some of the tid bits with Prey 2.which should be out next year.
"Don't Panic ! 'cause HH got's your back!"
