In this latest episode of HotHardware's Two and a Half Geeks, Dave, Iyaz and Marco talk about the Dell Venue Android smartphone, AMD's new Radeon HD 6790 and 6450 budget graphics cards, Intel's upcoming 10-core Xeon processors for the enterprise and mission-critical applications, the new Intel SSD 320 series solid state drive, and details of our amazing Spring Fling Sweepstakes in which someone can win an absolutely amazing, killer 3D gaming PC built by the folks at Maingear...
I'll call a turd a turd...classic!!! This was my first time watching the hhware webcast....it was very informational and super entertaining! Keep them coming.
Now you're just mashing it!
replacing 1366, oh noes.
great cast - marco had the giddiest look during that entire xeon part, pricless.
CPU: e6400 @ 3.2 (H-50'd)MB: MSI p6nRAM: 4G adataGPU: GTS-450 and 8800GTS for PhysxHDD: WD 500G BlackPSU: 620W Corsair Mod.Case: 900-2 with 7 cathodes and AP-15sOS: W7 and Ubuntu
The Venue is just another on the market or soon to be anyway unit. The 6790 seems to be a nice mid range GPU. I of course like at least the next step up power wise, but for a mid value price it has some good capabilities. The thing about the 10 chip Xeon is interesting to me. From what I have read it is actually the last Tock and therefore not as capable as Sandy Bridge. Of course for a server chip it seems to be nice, but I don't know really as I have also heard rumors about a coming sandy bridge 8 or 10 core. I apologize I don't know which it is. Now that will be a server chip to like this one so not really a commercial market item on the consumer level. It also uses less energy which is one of the big things now on server chips
The SSD thing is interesting for a different reason really. The SSD platform seems to really be getting to a price war area where it is going to be more of a general user item. I of course would suggest it for anyone the price is a bit higher than the market likes still, but I think we may see lower prices by the fall.
The Contest of course is absolutely awesome, and I as everyone else is hoping to win it :) Also awesome show as has become you guys standard, oh and as a side not the April fools show last week was great.
I couldn't help it. :) I'm sitting next to a dual-processor 12-core (dual, 6-core) Xeon rig right now and one of those new processors is likely to outperform it in many scenarios...

But you guys should of mess with us and made a video with all April fools, im sure someone would fall for that! :D
@Inspector - I guess you didn't see last week's podcaset. :)
No i did, just that you only put one fool in there, i suggested you guys do a full April fools video :D lol
Love the Nvidia poster in the background behind Marco while hes talking about an AMD card :) When you build your rig with that 10 Core Xeon your going to have to show it off too all of us. Yeah for for SSD's starting to drop in price.
@Inspector - No we didn't. :) That whole episode was a joke--the products were all 10 years old or made up altogether.
Hey Marco if you are going to build a rig with a super core server processor look around a minute I have heard mumblings of a Sandy Bridge XEON pretty soon to. Although I am sure you guys know more about any of that than any of us, that is what I heard rumored! The SandyBridge if I am right is like .3 or .5 watts more efficient per core as well as having the multi media strengths of the Sandy Bridge where this is built on Nehalem cores with a couple perks.
LOL, wow i feel stupid. i did wonder how that optical mouse is new... lol. Only thing that did get my notice was the fake board xD. Should pay closer attention :O
Well, your one person who got fooled hahaha.
Anywho, Marco, You shaved!! You look different
