Hello to all:  Please help.  I built a new rig, comprised of a Sabertooth X58 mobo, Corsair 6 gig ram. 1 64 meg 6/gb SSD, WD Cavier black 1 TB hard drive, 6 /gb. xfer. 2 Asus CD burner, card reader, and P183 case with Antec 750 pwr. supply.

What I want is to put Win 7 on the SSD, and use WD drive as a slave.  But when trying to get to load win 7, all I get is "Reboot and slect proper boot device or insert boot media in slected boot device and press key."

I have tried the following.  made sure all connections are tight.  system does recognize either both or just one drive, system does see both cd drives.

I have tried booting with the SSD alone, or just the WD. HDD

I have disable everything in bios to set cd as 1st drive, no good. Many other tries of different boot set up.

I see WD has a jumper spot, but not sure if that is the answer, where I have tried to start up stright from SDD.  I have no "jumpers" to try different settings anyways.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Gary

Check the Bios Boot menu Boot Device Priority - Hard Disk Drives - Boot Setting Config

your 1 st boot priority is CD/DVD to boot your Win7 DVD and install that to your SSD

then add the WD hard disc after you install very easy.

when you say 'slave' are you referring to storage HD ?

A follow up- I discovered the problem. on mobo are two Sata connections used only for raid set up.  I had a Sata 3 put in one of the grey plugs.  I thought the grey plugs were only for sata 3 connections.  Moved cables to reg. black Sata slot, and system saw both hard drive.  Operator error as usual.

Thanks Gary
