And Tegra 2 isnt even fully out adopted yet, well, not that widespread, and already K/E is 5 times the performance. and might i saw, apologies for my profanity.

lol....Yeah I picked up on that too. Wonder if Stark is a reference to Iron Man. Logan is Wolverine, and Wayne = Batman. HEHEHE
Seriously though, it appears that Nvidia wants to make a push into the desktop/laptop processor market.
Hey, you guys are GOOD! I'd say you're pretty much right-on! :)

"Dubbed Kal-El, the new chip will be capable of outputting 1440P video content and offer 300 DPI on devices with a 10.1" display. "
Is that quote right? 300 dpi sounds pretty low for a 10 inch screen.
Holy Crap! You really do pay close attention to the comments Dave!
I just posted this not more than five minutes ago!
Keep up the good work.
LOL !! Right on !!, .......Did you know that "Tegra" was also a Comic book character!!

dude, the average monitor you buy is like 100 - 150 dpi.
DPI = Dots per square inch. The iphone 4's retina display is a little over 300dpi.... 300dpi is pretty good for a 10 inch screen... it would have a resolution of around 3072x1600.... Pretty damn good in my books.
In comparison, a regular 10.1 inch lcd has a DPI of about 100 - 120 @ a resolution of around, 1024×600,
SO yea, those numbers are right, and they are Sweet!
dont quote my numbers... they are very generic, things like pixel density, display ratio also play a role in dpi
Well... i hope they dont name their mistakes after supervillians as well haha.... "nVidia Galactus"
Thanks for the explanation. I was confusing DPI with resolution.
In that case that would be an awesome display, sorry for the ignorance.
A resolution of 1024x600 is plenty awesome for a 10.1" screen. At 10-12 inches away, at 300 DPI, your eyes won't be able to distinguish individual pixels anymore, in essence, as good a resolution as you're ever going to need.
I'll bet they end up changing their codenames. They obviously put enough thought into the names so as to avoid using the registered trademarks of the superhero identities, but I think Kal-El is a little too much for DC's lawyers to sit idly by.
What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?

I wouldn't claim Kal-El is as fast as a T7200 until we've seen more data; CoreMark is *not* a comprehensive test of all CPU functions, much less anything else. That said, it's possible--the T7200 is almost five years old. A quad-core ARM-based chip has a decent chance of offering some competition there, especially if its a Cortex-A9 or A-15.
I'm with Joel on this one. The test they used does not use the strength of the Core, which is short vector SIMD. That would be MMX and SSE optimized code on the x86, which is pretty much all code being produced now.

ATI's announced their next four years of Roadmap too: Doomsday, Bane, Sabretooth, and Alcohol.
FTA: "That said, Kal-El still looks pretty sexy."
That reminds me of the time one of my co-workers walked away from his computer without locking the screen and I changed his wallpaper to a picture of Tom Welling with his shirt off.
