We aren't quite living in a world where cords have no place, and while companies like PowerMat are hoping to change that, inductive charging is still in its infancy. But if you're an owner of an Apple Magic Mouse, inductive charging is coming to you. The Magic Mouse, which has a multi-touch surface, has one main issue: the battery life is subpar. Many owners have complained that they have to replace the AA batteries within it far more often than they did with the Mighty Mouse.

But Mobee Technology is taking advantage of that disappointment by creating the Magic Charger. It's an inductive charging, USB-connected base station and battery pack that keeps your Magic Mouse charged so long as you place it on top of the base when you aren't using it. It's a beautifully designed device, and it could easily be mistaken for a first-party Apple accessory at a glance.


The Magic Charger comes with a special battery pack that you slide into the Magic Mouse, and when the mouse comes into contact with the base, a light turns on to let you know that power is being transferred without wires. A full charge takes 6 hours and should provide around 6 days of use, and reports have the price at around $50. Shipments are expected in October.

Inductive charging is a cool idea. It's the same thing that happens every time I get around my wife.

Before the patent trolls get to grab this sci-fi idea that they can't produce, I'd like to hereby claim prior art on the idea of a pillow that performs inductive charging for your phone/internet implants while you sleep.

lol that would be super cool 3vi1. But i think im be seeing the floor alot when that happen. having a phone / internet implanted in me, ya i would be using it 24/7 and won't see where im going :D

Thanks! If you don't mind me going off on a rant totally unrelated to this product: The problem with the world today is... written correctly, what I suggested could be a patent. The trolls don't have to prove they can do it... they're just patenting the (obvious) conclusions that we can draw from current tech trends.

I think this is harming America, and everyone that has entered into international IP agreements with us. Patents weren't meant to prop up megacorporations and patent clearinghouses, they were meant to help the little guy that was actually trying to bring a product to market.

Let's keep this in mind when we vote. The current administrative branches are dreadful in this area (ACTA), and the last was equally as horrible (Bush created the Intellectual Property Czar), and the previous every bit as bad (Clinton signed the DMCA). So we have to start considering the individuals we're voting for, and not their party affiliations.
