We have finally realized that the Internet is much more than a network of computers. It is an endless web of people. Men and women from every corner of the globe areconnecting to one another, thanks to the biggest social interface ever known to humanity.Digital culture has laid the foundations for a new kind of society. And this society is advancing dialogue, debate and consensus through communication.Because democracy has always flourished where there is openness, acceptance, discussion and participation. And contact with others has always been the mosteffective antidote against hatred and conflict. That's why the Internet is a tool for peace. That's why anyone who uses it can sow the seeds of non-violence.And that's why the next Nobel Peace Prize should go to the Net.A Nobel for each and every one of us.
News:Besides, who accepts the award if it wins?
Al Gore, of course!
SPAM-posters beware! ®
"have you ever met someone who actually despised the Internet?"
Yes some old folks xD they hate technology :P lol
Internet for president! 2012
I'm throwing my support behind ham radio. I've seen many more flame wars spring up on the Internet than peace.
It's ironic that this would be suggested when the Internet began as a means of transmission between military installations. Then again... Alfred Nobel made his fortune off dynamite and detonators.
What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?
++++++++++++[>++++>+++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>+++.>++++++++++.-------------.+++.>---.>--.
That a very true statement 3vi1 lol. A peace award started by a man who sold explosives. I am not cutting it down I think it has become more than that as a symbol. Still it's funny. As for the internet winning it I was under the impression it was supposed to be awarded to an individual. The internet is anything but an individual.
Huh. No wonder the Internet phoned me yesterday and asked if it could borrow my tuxedo again.
"I didn't cry when Bambi's mother was shot... but I cried when HAL was turned off."
3vi1:I'm throwing my support behind ham radio. I've seen many more flame wars spring up on the Internet than peace.
What about all the lonely frustrated-bachelors that get hooked-up on the internet? Surely that is worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize!
Vint Cerf should accept it.
/agree Internut. If it were to win, Cerf would be the proper guy.
However, I think it would be pretty sad if an inanimate tool wins the prize instead of a person. That's kind of like saying nobody's trying.
True 3vi1, or no one has done anything substantial as well.
