Wow they seem to be able to adapt android to just about anything.

Wouldn't it be cooler if your phone could be used as a universal remote control?!

There were a lot of remote control apps for the Newton, back in the day-- it took the MP120 for a powerful enough IR signal, though.

Concerning this device, though-- yes, it's cool, but it's a $300 remote control. I'm certain that there are people who are willing to plunk down that much, but are they enough to make it a viable product?

It's Linux - it will adapt to anything depending on which modules you compile into the kernel.

Yeah I know it's Linux but thought it was a specialized "not 100% open source" build guess I was wrong.

By "Linux", I'm only referring to the kernel. A full open-source distro would be properly called GNU/Linux, but Android has their own user-space implementation in place of GNU. It's not necessary for them to open-source the non-kernel components.

Yeah; that's true 3vi1. I personally appreciate the amount of blanketing that Microsoft has basically given to the market in a general way. Linux on the other hand is in many cases as well as ways (application wise and in general) a more competent OS. The recent versions of it "especially Ubuntu" also give a much more general consumer and automatic use patern much like Windows does. I know iit is nowhere close but it is just much easier for tom *** and harry to use without the difficulties of using Linux in the past.
