Got my retail copy yesterday. Its much like the RC from my use. I am going to load virtual xp on it today so I can play a few games from years past...

So, Der Meister,
How's the XP mode work for your older games? What games have you tried?
Interested here in Virginia,...........
So far I have:
Some of the Old Sim games (Tower, Ant, Farm) running
C&C Red Alert
I am still trying to get a few others to work but they are being stubborn....
I'd like to play an older game again. One that I haven't played in a long time, but I used to enjoy it immensely when I did. It's too old for XP though and I probably will never see it happen.
Do you remember ever playing Descent? And Descent-II? I just loved them.
Some sites on the web claim to have ported these and other games to modern computers. I tried their methods and they didn't work for me. SIGH!

What about DOSBox? I had Descent running well in SVGA [640x480] mode on Vista last year.
VERY NICE! I can't wait til I'm running 7
If you do, shut down SMB access out of your network (Windows shares, port 445).
Why is it that If OS X had a known unpatched remote crash exploit there would be a big story here about shoddy Apple quality, yet there's not a peep when it happens to Win7? It was all over Digg, Slashdot, Ars, and every security tracking site under the sun.
People read the stupidest things. Like this sig, for instance.
I Played with the RC version for a couple days and it seemed faster and smoother operating what little time I was on it but from what some of you and others have said about it Im looking forward to getting my hands on a 64 bit version of it. Vista is ok but Im thinking Win 7 is going to be much more friendly and compatable and hopefully much more performance capable. Well see.Looks like a lot of you have already changed over LOL Im always trailing the crowd but goes with my territory.
It is better than Vista, in a lot of little ways as far as the interface goes. File transfers happen much quicker too.
I'm on the RC as well.
