IcyDock enclosure or HDD messed up?

I have an external IcyDock enclosure connected through eSATA.  Inside I think I have Caviar 500Gb.  Recently what's been happening is the thing just becomes unresponsive.  If I turn it off and on then it works just fine for a few seconds, then becomes unresponsive again...

 

Any idea?
