I was just looking at BD-R prices on newegg the other day and was horrified by the prices - especially on 50GB discs. 100GB with this new technology would be cool except I'm sure the discs will cost ungodly amounts of cash.

I agree with CC. The cost of the drives and media makes a bluray writer a poor choice for the needs of most people - who can get a faster solution with all the removable storage they need by buying an external drive or two.

I think another question people should ask is if it's compatible with the existing Blu-ray players that is out in the market which includes the PlayStation 3.
Yes, with BlueRay technology the gouge is on. It's a shame that Sony didn't lose this one like they did the VHS/BetaMax wars. I will not pay the SONY tax for a real long time, if ever.
