Today, we're going to take a look at an XFX version of the GTX 260 (Core 216) with their XFX GeForce GTX 260 (216) Black Edition.  The Black Editon takes the GeForce 260 (216) reference design to the next level by giving the GPU and Memory speeds a significant boost for added performance potential.  Along with its complete retail package, the XFX version of the GTX 260 (Core 216) is clearly out to make an impression, and from what we've seen, they are off to a good start.

Although this is now an old report, I thought it worth mentioning the XFX GTX260 (216) I have installed which is the non-Black edition.  This was purchased around April 2009.

I use the EVGA Precision software to bump the fan speed when under load.  I've overclocked the card to the following quite successfully (i.e. stable under load)

Core: 717MHz

Shader: 1473 MHz

Memory: 1133 MHz.

Under 95% GPU load on games, the fan is operating at 80% (reasonably loud) and temps remain at 72C, which for a GPU is fine.
