I would like to see less forums, at the moment there is too many. I competely understand the need to give content some hierarchy but there isn't enough members to contribute posts and its spread out to thin. We have plenty of members but just too many sections.

Bringing the number down to eight forums sections would be plenty. Each one adopt its umbrella title. It would focus the content better as at the moment some people are putting posts that would otherwise fit in to other sections into General as to get some coverage on their topic.

I personally never see what section things are posted in. I always go to posts you have not read yet, and find anything no matter the section.

2nd that. the only time I really pay attention to the sections is when I am starting a new thread.

Your guys solution seems fair enough, I just prefer a consolidated forum with consistently created content (HH has this but not in certain sections). I just don't use the last 20 thread feature.  No worries.

Thanks for the replies and the rhymes Cool

I find myself agreeing as well, I mean yes its good to have fine tuned deliniation, but it could backfire when the posts don't spread enough.

Even if more than eight, I agree that a reorganization into a smaller amount of forums would make navigating the forums easier.  Especially for new members who have to spend a minute just looking for what forum they think is best to ask their question in.

I think 8 forums is OK, but we should have Sub Forums under those too, to narrow down the subjects.

i agree, i dont remember the last time i went to networking forum by choice....

grouping some stuff together and having less specific forums would help.

Have you guys been to AVSforums?  They have like 8 million sections.  I find this little forum very nice and tidy.

yep been there quite a bit. There's a lot of good info there but way to much to sift through  and to many people who think they know everything and act like they own the place. Thats what makes this place so great small friendly community and you can actually keep up with the discusions going on here.

I agree, there are many forums here. It looks as though there are less users.

I'll go on the record as being in favor of less too.

If you go off and bury your head in work for a week or two at a time, as I tend to do, it's really hard to catch up without just looking at all unread threads like Bob does and ignoring the ones from all the sections you don't find interesting.

People read the stupidest things.  Like this sig, for instance.
