I just built a new computer and I used the Philips IDE DVD+- RW drive from my previous Dell computer. For some reason though, the drive is having some issues. It can read CDs and DVDs fine, but it's having issues when it comes to writing. I've been trying to burn some ISOs, but the burns are failing on Magic ISO, PowerISO, AND UltraISO. I'm not having luck with any of the programs, and I've even done a fresh XP install. I'm not having luck with burning from Windows explorer either. The drive was working fine in my Dell about 2 days ago. My specs are:
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard
80 GB SATA hard drive
320 GB SATA hard drive
4 GB G.Skill 800 mhz RAM
Intel Q6600 2.4 Ghz Quad-Core CPU
XFX NVidia 9800 GT graphics card
500W Rosewill PSU
And of course, the Philips DVD drive.
Can anyone help me out? This is driving me NUTS!
try getting an firware upgrade for your PC. I guessing its a driver issue

Sometimes it can be that the "enable recording" tickbox can become unchecked.....
1.Go under My Computer
2. Right-click on your DVD drive and click on "properties"
3. Click on the "recording" tab that is located all the way to the right at the top
4. Ensure that that "enable recording" is checkmarked
5. If it isn't then check it, hit OK and restart the PC....
See if that helps at all :)
The box is already checked. Thanks for the tip though.
Any other ideas?
Is the burner SATA or IDE?
Regardless... I'd try what Der said.
IDE as specified in my original post.
Oops... how'd I miss that?
