Since launching the MobileMe syncing service in July, Apple has been working on various fixes. Earlier this week, Apple revealed that 27 changes were made late last month. MobileMe is a hosted service, so you don’t have to do anything to get the updates—Apple made all of the changes on the servers. All components of the service were affected by the update, with MobileMe Mail receiving the most updates. Keyboard shortcuts that didn’t behave as expected were fixed, along with a bug that didn’t remove messages from the Drafts folder once they were sent. MobileMe Mail users should also see improved performance when first logging in to MobileMe Mail and also when Junk Mail Filtering is enabled.

The Calendar application should also see improved performance and a resolution to an issue where event editors would only partially display in some browsers. In addition, the ability to export contacts as vCards has been re-enabled.

MobileMe has had problems since it was launched. Shortly after releasing the service, Apple apologized for the continuing problems users were experiencing and offered members a 30-day addition. Not long after, Steve Jobs issued a memo to employees stating that the service was not up to Apple’s standards. The company then issued another extension, this time for 60-days.

MobileMe was introduced at the same time as the iPhone 2.0 software and the AppStore. The service replaced Apple’s subscription-based online service, .Mac. With MobileMe, users receive a custom email address, a Web site address, Web publishing and file sharing tools, and syncing technology that works with Macs, PCs, and iPhones.

For a company that prides itself in the quality of its products, they’ve sure had a few hiccups lately. Hopefully things are on the upturn.

I have not used mobileme, but I heard about all the issues it was having at launch. Good to see they made things right by the 90 days free and finally some good updates.
