Although the word has been out for a while, T-Mobile and RIM finally announced a price and shipping date for the first ever BlackBerry flip phone, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. Launching today in black for $149.99 with a two-year contract, the Pearl Flip 8220 features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, a SureType keyboard, 2MP camera with video, and a 2.4-inch internal display. Like many flips, the phone also has an external display for easy access to calendar reminders, email, text messages, and phone calls at a glance. The Pearl Flip 8220 uses the popular “pearl” trackball for navigation.

Full specs include:

• Support for Unlimited HotSpot Calling
• myFaves support
• Six popular instant messaging clients
• Up to 10 supported e-mail accounts
• Advanced media player for pictures, music, and video with full-screen video playback
• Stereo Bluetooth support (A2DP/AVRCP)
• 3.5mm stereo headset jack
• Enhanced HTML browser
• Internal QVGA 2.4-inch diagonal screen, 320 x 240 pixels, and supporting 65K colors
• 128MB of flash memory
• 256MB microSD card included, with support for up to 16GB microSD/SDHC card
• Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
• Dimensions: 3.9” x 1.96” x 0.68”
• Weight: 3.6 oz

Given the flip phone’s popularity, and CrackBerry’s appeal, this should be a match made in heaven. In the coming weeks, a red model will also be available.

Looks like a decent flip phone. I'd check it out if I were on T-Mo.

Sarah Miller, huh? I went to high school with a girl named Sarah Miller. Anyhow, welcome to the HH fam. :)

I actually played with one of these @ the interop show in NY back in september. RIM has a booth and they had this phone on display. it had service and everything. ITs basically just a Pearl in a flip body with a sligthly larger screen. a bit weird to use if you are used to the classic crackberry candy-bar style feel. but it isn't any harder to use than a Pearl just different which may take some getting used to for some. Me I never liked the Pearls' keyboard so it annoyed me.
