The Latest Flip: A BlackBerry

Although the word has been out for a while, T-Mobile and RIM finally announced a price and shipping date for the first ever BlackBerry flip phone, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220. Launching today in black for $149.99 with a two-year contract, the Pearl Flip 8220 features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, a SureType keyboard, 2MP camera with video, and a 2.4-inch internal display. Like many flips, the phone also has an external display for easy access to calendar reminders, email, text messages, and phone calls at a glance. The Pearl Flip 8220 uses the popular “pearl” trackball for navigation.

Given the flip phone’s popularity, and CrackBerry’s appeal, this should be a match made in heaven. In the coming weeks, a red model will also be available.

Looks like a decent flip phone. I'd check it out if I were on T-Mo.

I actually played with one of these @ the interop show in NY back in september. RIM has a booth and they had this phone on display. it had service and everything. ITs basically just a Pearl in a flip body with a sligthly larger screen. a bit weird to use if you are used to the classic crackberry candy-bar style feel. but it isn't any harder to use than a Pearl just different which may take some getting used to for some. Me I never liked the Pearls' keyboard so it annoyed me.
