    Windows 7 pics!

    http://www.thinknext.net/archives/2268

Looks a lot vista, but it is early in the development to be working on the interface. I like the new menus in paint and wordpad.

its just about a vista remake.... IM guessing it will be a small jump in performance and security, But i do see it as a plus since it wil basically relaunch Vista with out the bad name it has now... It seems that all people remember is the first few months when vista just came out, and there were tons of driver issues...

Yeah its kinda sad. Everyone had the same complaints when XP came out, but this time it seems no one is giving vista a second chance and just assuming it still sucks.

    Re: Windows 7 pics!

My laptop came pre-loaded w/ Vista Home prem. which I've grown fond of and gotten used to. XP still runs on my desktop and although it serves my needs just fine, I'm now interested in stepping up to Vista Ultimate 64. Since hardware upgrades including(but not limited to)mobo are almost deffinate, the retail version is a must for me. I'm hesitant because it seems like Windows 7 is right around the corner and I'd hate to buy Vista then have it be obsolete(relatively speaking)in less than a year. If I knew for sure that I could get at least 12-18mos. out of it I'd buy it.

How long do ppl think Vista will realistically be not only viable, but thee OS to run?

a cpu, a board, some ram, a gfx card, an opty, a hdd and a psu... all in a case

I'm confused:  I thought the point of v7 was going to be major kernel rewrites to make the OS more modular, not change around the GUI... again.

It's not just the drivers that gave it a bad name.  The further integration of DRM to the OS was the final straw I needed to go completely Linux.  I'm disappointed how Microsoft wants to help companies limit how you can use legal copies rather than support fair-use and convenience for their customers.  Remember, this DRM hasn't stopped one single pirate who actually wanted to copy the content - it's only impacts the legal users.

Microsoft probably prefers it this way though, because letting those companies artificially limit you will stop the content owners from trying to do the right thing and releasing the content with no DRM - which could be played legally on other, free, operating systems.

it looks good, I think they should just to a business edition and a normal edition. I don't really see the need for all the diffrent editions with vista.

Me eather. Only time will tell. I like the new taskbar. Moving things around is a godsend for me. I also like the fact that moving a window to the top or pulling it from the top maximizes/restores the window size. Thats something I have gotten use to in linux.
