    Changing hard drives how ???

    Hi,

i'm purchasing a new PC in the next week and i need to find out how to transfare all the data from my old PCs hard drive to my new PCs hard drive. My current PC has two separate hard drives each of 120Gigs = 240Gigs, my new PCs hard drive will also have two separate hard drives this time of 250Gigs x 2 = 500Gigs. i'm assuming i would just burn all the HDD data to disc and then rip that data to the new hard drive, i could be wrong???

This is new for me as this is my first time in the process, could anyone comment on how this is done???

    Thanks

You can put one of your new drives of 250 GB into your old PC and transfer both drives into it via copy & paste. Then format the old drives, or w/e u want to do with it.

like squid sadi you can just plug them in a grab waht you need off the old HD's. What type of interface do they use? If they use IED then you will need to set them as slave devices on the back of each HD with a jumper. If they are SATA then you can just plug them in and get what you want off them with out having to do any thing extra.

Another option is to buy some external hard drive enclosures for like $15 bucks each that hook up via USB. Put your old drives in them, plug them into your new PC, and then you can use those drives for storage.

It's essentially what I've done with all my old drives. I ended up buying 2 network enclosures for multiple drives (one enclosure for old SATA drives, one for old IDE drives). I just plug them into my router. One is for media, one is for software. The best part is that all the media is now shareable with my wife's computer without the need to enable file and print sharing on my computer and opening up a security hole.
