i seriously cant wait. i preordered a special edition copy along with buying a xbox 360. this is supposed to be as revolutionary as gta3 (which was the first in the series to be 3d)talk about the game, post pics, and when the time comes write a review (no spoilers :-p)
I'm putting off buying it. I can't afford to buy $60 games anymore. My money is saved for Ninja Gaiden II which is due in June. As fun as GTA3 is, Ninja Gaiden is bad ass, high speed, high intensity, crazy awesomeness. And I'm a being conservative in my description.
I actually never finished GTA 3, although I got pretty far. I think I'll start it again on April 29, the day the fourth comes out. If GTA4 scores well, I suppose I'll buy it when it's at a more reasonable price.
And I see you bought a 360 for it. Wise man. Microsft paid $50 million to have exclusive Downloadble Content on the 360. It's the version to have for sure.
Hello
i had a 360 at launch but that got stolen (hope the person who stole it gets red rings for life!)
this is the only game im comparing to the anxiety i feel at a console launch i seriously cant wait for this game to be in my hands and me playing it. gta has always imo been cinimatic and grand. im not really into (sorry for lack of a better word) jappanese games. im more into fps or games like bioshock and gta with a world that you get immersed in.
Anyone know which game looks better graphics wise yet? I assume that the PS3 will be able to out perform the xbox, whether it is graphics enhancements, or just more on screen at any given time (draw distance/pedestrians).
I have been contemplating geting a PS3 with my mandatory government loan here in a couple months. I have no use for downloadable content, as I only have dialup internet.
a few of the devs said that they like the xbox 360 version more. none of them have better graphics, but the xbox 360 gets exculsive content.

The 360 has a better GPU so I would assume in first person/third person games GPU is more important. Still, either way I can see it making little difference at all.
I'm looking forward to this game as well. Ice make sure to post back on release date.
EDIT: Sorry Ice, me and you posted at the same time. So the graphics debate is settled.

Most people go consider the 360 having the slightly superior GPU. Although the PS3 Cell CPU beats the Tri-Core PowerPC of the 360. So in theory the PS3 would be able to push its card more, possible enough to make it have better visuals. But remember the PS3 Cell is new technology that is hard to program for. There are reports that the reason GTA4 was delayed so long was because of the PS3 version. Any problems getting the game to fit on 1 DVD were less than programming it for the Cell. So, I would not expect the PS3 version to have better graphics, especially from a third party.
If you're not a hardcore console gamer, the PS3 is likely a better choice. But I cannot pass up all of the exclusive games for 360. The 360 is way too loud, costs more (you have to pay to play online remember), and is more closed. But it has more games that I'm interested in. If you don't fall victim to the hype of games, you'll be fine with what the PS3 offers. I, for one, cannot accept not getting Ninja Gaiden II. It must be mine.
If downloadable content is all the 360 has going for it, I would go with the PS3. Blu-Ray compatable out of the box, Free online, FLOW, and great media center potential.
Oh yeah, and FLOW!
What's FLOW?
I am waiting for the PC release.I guess they will release the PC version later to rework the textures, fix what was not fixed and optimise it for the PC architecture.
I have seen some videos online with GTA4 and I can say it looks impressive, and I like the most how the cars drive

Another person that feels the same way. I love Ninja Gaiden. I am going to buy a 360 just for the 2nd one. I love (and sometimes hate) how hard the 1st one was. It certainly isn't a game for the weak. But once you finish it, even on medium difficulty, there is a sense of accomplishment. Like you passed a rite of passage or something.
As for GTA4, I can wait. I can wait for a deal or something.

Flow originally started as this: http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/
You can buy it in the PS marketplace for $8 or so, and the graphics are updated, with more amoebas and such. It is very relaxing, and is controlled solely with the 6-axis.

This is the highest persuasion possible to buy a game. The last two 10s from IGN were Soul Calibur and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 1999 and 1998, respectively. As tempted as I am to get this game, I cannot afford to and must wait. I know Ninja Gaiden II won't get a 10, but I'm still holding out for it.
A lot of people say when a cool game comes to a specific console : "Wow!I really have to buy that console to play that specific game!"
I really do not think that for a simple game, you have to buy a console if you do not own one, because most of these people end leaving the console in the dust before finishing that specific game

I bought a 360 mostly for Mass Effect (and it's even coming to PC next month, doh!). But also Ninja Gaiden II. I'm tempted to sell out after I thoroughly enjoy Ninha Gaiden II, but I may yet hold on. It depends on how my monetary situatation is (and right now it's not good).
While I got my X360 for X-mas... I woulda purchased it for Halo 3 alone...
Mass Effect, Forza 2, GTA4, and some other fun games are just a nice addition to the ever expanding list of games. And now I'll need to keep the box for ME:2 and ME:3 for sure.
Anyways I just picked my copy up, at work but get to play it tonight, I CAN'T WAIT!!!
I bought the original Xbox for Halo 1. I played it well through the 360 release, and I have gotten my money's worth out of it.
well ive been playing gta 4 (and sorry to say slacking off a bit on posting, ill try to post more often and play :-) ) and ive got to say its one hell of a game. it starts out slow and a bit boring but after about 2 hours the game feels alot better and alot more fun. my problems.... so far 1- the radio... the songs never seem to come on the right time... maybe im just unlucky but the classic rock station has black sabbath, smashing pumkins, zz top and other great bands.... i have yet to hear one of them... :-(2- you dont get the ak fast enough :-p ill post a more in depth analysis when i get done with the game. if any one has any questions ill be happy to answer them.
Is there something like Chatterbox from GTA III? I love that radio station, it's hilarious and never gets old.
