When you get your notebook run Everest Home Edition on it and see what memory is installed! I have never heard of 1.5GB memory modules!

It is a 2GB stick with an unmatched 1GB stick -- no dual channel for you!

I wonder if that laptop even supports dual-channel. My Compaq R4000 has two identical sticks of RAM but will only run in single-channel mode because that is the way the motherboard is designed.Sad

Interesting -- I just checked mine out (same mem configuration as Der) and CPU-Z seems to think I am running dual channel....

I love my HP Business Notebook, I would steer clear of any HP consumer offerings in the notebook space. although running CS2 on a business notebook is quite a stretch.

    Re: Need a Notebook suggestion

I'm debating between this Acer (which would be $449 (after a $100 off coupon) - http://officemax.shoplocal.com/officemax/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&storeid=2420602&rapid=540649&pagenumber=6&listingid=-2091667160

Not sure if the 2 gig memory can be upgraded for this model.

AND this one a refurbished Gateway M-6750 for $599 with free shipping -http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=208033962&adid=17654&dcaid=17654
It can be upgraded to 4 gig memory.

    Decisions decisions..

Not sure about warranties. Have heard drawbacks on reliability for both.

Would be using for web design work.
