hi i am new here and i must admit after reading past posts here to see if anyone had similar queries as me, my knowledge on RAM is very limited,
you guys might laugh at my system and RAM but i'll give it a shot
ok,,,
MY system is AMD Athlon 64 3000+NVIDIA GeForce 62001.81GHz1GB RAMOperating SystemWindows XP Sp2
not quite the quad cores and DDR3's you normally answer queries to but that's my system,
I would like to upgrade my RAM
i have 1x 1GB SDRAM DDR PC3200 (200MHz) 184pin (((checked with a little program called SIW)))
i would like to get 2 more of these modules making it a total of 3GB
can i do that? or do they have to be in pairs?
i read previous posts and some users tweaked voltages and overclocked stuff, do i need to do any of that?
hehe my system is quite old as you now know
thanks in advance for any answers
you can boast your system's performance against mine if you wish, hehe no offence taken :)
cheers
Buying a pair is not necessary although some would advise it.
Welcome to the forum kikouno.
Buying in pairs, or making certain that all your ram is exactly the same primarily helps to insure you don't encounter compatibility issues. I don't think you really need to be concerned with over clocking it at this point. This is the ram I would get if I were you. Mushkin 2GB
If you know the make and model of your motherboard, it would be worth confirming with the manufacturer that the brand of ram you choose is among the supported vendors. If not, you should be fine and you can always exchange it. If you decide you want to replace your existing ram and still have a total of 3GB, then this is what I would recommend. (3x) G.Skill 1GB

There is no need for 3 GB with that system. 2 GB should be more than enough for games.

many thanks for the answers,
it has helped me a lot, i decided 2 go for 1 more 1x1GB of pc3200 ram as i recently found (through more research on the forum:) ) XP sp2 32bit only recognizes up to 3GB and that maxing out my ram would not solve everything, also found out my single core processor is to blame as well, now i know if it was atleast dualcore it would cope with multiple operations much better, u guys know that i'm sure but i learning slowly slowly, thanks to you guys :)
so 2GB in total will be good enough
