Computer [co] Unofficial HotHardware Wallpapers (2008 Edition)

Some of you old timers may remember that I made some wallpapers with the HotHardware logo way back in the day. I noticed recently that the original thread with the wallpapers doesn't seem to exist anymore, or at least I can't find it. I still have the original wallpapers but I thought I'd make some new ones with the new logo. As with the old wallpapers, these are unofficial and created by me. I give you permission to do whatever you want with the wallpapers, but the HotHardware logo remains the property of HotHardware, so respect it. They are hosted at MediaFire. It is a series of 5 wallpapers that share a similar theme, although each is slightly different. Each wallpaper is available in a variety of resolutions. Although MediaFire supports a gallery mode, for some reason it doesn't recognize PNG as an image file so unfortunetaly you'll have to download each wallpaper to find out what it looks like. To make things a little easier, I also made zip files. Each zip file contains every wallpaper of a certain resolution. Lastly, there is a zip file with everything in it, in every resolution.

Individual Image Files (199KB to 1.04MB)
Zip Files Sorted By Resolution (1.15MB to 4.82MB)
Everything in 1 Zip File (16.3MB)

    There are 5 different wallpapers:
    Plain Dark (HH_Wallpaper08_PlainD)
    Plain Light (HH_Wallpaper08_PlainL)
    Swirl 1 (HH_Wallpaper08_Swirl1a)
    Swirl 2 (HH_Wallpaper08_Swirl2b)
    Swirl 3 (HH_Wallpaper08_Swirl3)

Each wallpaper comes in 6 resolutions:
    1280x800
    1440x900
    1600x1200
    1680x1050
    1920x1200
    2560x1600

Sorry if the resolution you use isn't included. As long as you choose a wallpaper with the right aspect ratio with a resolution larger than the one your are using, it should still look just fine.

Nice job LC, though i have to say your ealier works did look alot cooler.  I still have all of those, albiet at 1024x768, plus that custom color AMD one you made for me that im still using.  You should definitly show these new guys your old wallpapers you made for HH, they are awsome.

I do remember using one of his old HH Wallpapers for a few months back several years ago.  I don't have the file anymore.  I concur, show us your old stuff again too, LC

I definitely prefer the new ones to the last ones. They are cleaner and simpler.

    Nice Job.

Not that long. I got the idea when Dave posted a fairly high resolution version of the new logo on a blue gradient background. All of the new wallpapers were made from that, which partially explains why they all use a blue gradient background. I was way too lazy to strip the background from the logo Dave posted so I just made sure my background gradient matched the one in the logo and blured the edge a bit. Now that I think about it, I probably could have just asked him for a PSD with all the layers and whatnot intact.

I suppose I could dig those out and host them at some point. I think the highest resolution I had was 1600x1200 though, and they all had a 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm not even sure if 1600x1200 was the original resolution I made them at, I think for some of them I made them at a lower resolution and just scaled up, so they probably look aweful. The new wallpapers were all made at 2560x1600. I guess I could just remake some of the old ones. I wouldn't mind remaking the 'powered by' series of wallpapers, especially since a lot of the companies have updated logos now... If I can even remember how I made the effect in the first place.

I didn't make any of the new wallpapers in that resolution. Have you tried any of the other sizes? Do they look aweful when scaled?

Re: Unofficial HotHardware Wallpapers (2008 Edition)

Well LC, i dug through my old HH walls, and im posting thumbnails of them here. I liked the work you did on them, expecially the one you custom did the colors on for me (the first one).  They are all 1024x768 though, and yes i still am using a 17" CRT for my monitor so i dont mind.  I believe the only one i dont have is the intel ones, must have deleted them for some reason Stick out tongue
