Well if this makes you feel any better I seen benchmarks of memory set at 667 and 800MHz and there is practically no difference in performance. In fact if you can lower the timimgs you might be sitting better at 667.

    Re: MY RIG (WITH PICS)

I've just found out something that i didnt notice before and neither did anyone else.

Ive mounted the CPU heatsink\Fan the wrong way around. Always thought the the fan was extrating the heat from the heatsink and blowing out.

Looking at the diagram, its blowing the air through the heatsink, not withdrawing it Embarrassed

Switched it around now Big Smile

I seen that but being new here I didn't want to say anything and I though maybe you had your air flow going the opposite way...seen stranger things.

The only thing it would affect is the ambient temp of your case. But being your proc is ilding at 28* I don't thinkit would have been a big deal. Live and learn:)

As it stands I think AMD's only chance now is a return to the value PC segment like they used to be when they started. They are no longer the performance powerhouse and that is unfortunate, but you have to give them props because they did succeed in waking the sleeping Giant of intel during those years when they were on top. Intel is a good company and their research and development teams are all geniuses. Infact I was hoping IBM would go ahead with the AMD buyout because IBM also has the research and development skills neccesary to stay on the cuting edge in today's competative technology markets.

    Re: MY RIG (WITH PICS)

Would consider switching to intel, might wait for abit though, until my system is in need of a complete upgrade, when iam ready to change the board and processor. Iam getting a vista rating of 5.4 with the processor and its serving me well i think for what i use my PC for, might consider getting an AMD athlon 64 6400x2 Black edition and overclocking that, price of one of them and what i can sell my 6000 for, should only costs £15-£20 to change.

    Re: MY RIG (WITH PICS)

It's been a back-and-forth fight since the beginning. There has always been times where the other company wasn't quite there yet. AMD will fix their new chips and all will be well again in the chip competition war. Then prices will drop and then everyone will be happy:)

    Re: MY RIG (WITH PICS)

I bet the hyperx uses different timings\voltage to your current ram, assuming that your current 2gig is not kingston hyperx. Your current 2gig, might be running in dual channel, adding 1gb making 3gb, might now be running as single channel.

also what type of ram is the 2gig you have and the hyperx ram, i.e. PC2-5300, PC2-6400, mixing and matching different ram isnt really a good idea.

    Re: MY RIG (WITH PICS)

All of the above is true, always try to use the same type of ram. You can add 1 GB to an already 2GB system...You just need 2 sticks of 512 in the other 2 memory banks. It will run in duel channel then. Also, don't get caught up in the Vista Experience scoring thingy, it's kind of bogus. You can re-run it and your score might change back if it's bothering you that much.
