    Rumor Mill: Apple Tablet

    As with all rumors, take the following with a grain of salt: It appears that Apple is preparing to release a Tablet.  Normally we hear so many Apple rumors, especially about Tablets, PDAs and sub-notebooks, but this particular rumor allegedly comes directly from one of Apple's key manufacturing partners: ASUS.

    Assuming that the rumor is true, that does leave us with a big question:

    “...can Apple turn the Tablet PC into a success when previous attempts have failed? The short answer is 'yes'. Any company that can make a mobile phone with no buttons, no picture messaging, slow Web access and no video capture into the most desirable phone on the planet can easily make tablets popular.”

    We're certainly interested in seeing what Apple comes up with, but we've learned the hard way that believing every Apple rumor you hear is a recipe for disappointment.

    I don't say this often but the folks at Cnet are RIGHT ON with this. If Apple makes a tablet I'd seriously consider it actually. They have one specific core competency. They make small, sleek, sexy stuff that works well.

    For a Desktop or notebook, maybe not, but this is their sort of gig for sure.

    This has me a bit worried, especially considering my bro is a apple fan. Heck, he has a 6 grand Mac pro in the other room, two dual 2.67 ghz core processors with 8 gigs of ram -_-. Such a waste of cash when you buy from apple, but that doesn't mean the performance is bad. I actually have a Wacom tablet next to me, my brother has one as well since he goes to a art college (Art Center in pasadena). I can seriously see him ditching his intuos for this...::sighs::...Now I have to deal with more apple praise -_-...god I hate apple fanatics...LOL. But who know's, I might be able to nab his Intuos 3 if he ditches it =P.

     You know Ziff Davis had a hand-on with the unofficial mac tablet the modbook.

    Well, That's not a mac tablet really. It's a modbook, a modified mac laptop for a lcd screen based tablet.

    I'd expect apples to be an actual tablet like wacoms, not a visual based tablet. But either would surprise me...I never would of expected apple to get into the tablet business. Guess I was wrong...=P

    Apples run well enough, but the price for tehm is a little high.

    A little? Try catastrophic. My bro has a dual my bro has a mac pro with two dual core 2.67 ghz core 2 duos, 8 gigs of ram, a single 320 gb drive, and a 7300 GT. How much did it cost him? 6 grand...Yes it is a socket 771 system and uses more expensive buffer modules...But still..6 grand? For thaT?!?!? boo apple.
