    Dual CPU's

Just thought I'd share a few screenies of my latest folder. It might help me climb the rankings a little quicker. Not sure how long It'll be folding for, but let the good times role.

    Dual CPU's

Clearly there will e a lead change in 6 months at that rate. I have a good bit of folding power at the moment. However its obvious it's gonna take much more if i have even the hint of a chance at holding the Top rank. I really want that rank, hum silentspectre's thought of the ole breaking-and-folding does sound more appealing everyday . Although i think i will start with the old throw money at the problem concept, no larac i'm not talking about throwing you the money . It's gonna be that time soon for a couple more dual cores in the house. Maybe i only need 1 kidney so what the heck, how about a quad core for me .

    4 Gb of RAM? more/less? I'm guessing @ least 2GB

I got to say Larac has a goal and that is #1, mine is among the top 10, my folding power has grown but not the point of producing 1000+ points every 2 days

It currently has 4GB of ram, I did try and talk the purchaser into getting 8GB as with this mobo and chip config you have to have 4 dimms installed. So why not get 4x 2GB sticks, although it does have 8 slots so a bit more could find it's way in there. Having said that I don't really have any 1GB+ FBDDR2 667 chips lying round.
Although the F@H client only reports 2GB so I assume it has the same addressing limit as most programs (I have got PAE on, but F@H doesn't seem to notice)

Unfortunately I only have this on folding for a few weeks. But hey it should be good for 3500P/D. Oh and warlord, according to the stats I'll catch you in 3.4years. lol

Only 3.4 yrs till ya pass me is the issue at hand indeed. It means you are still on the way. I need more folding power. I'm not satisfied with having been the leader, not when i could just be the leader. I never settled for second place. However at this rate i do have some time to figure out how to hold ya back.

    RE: Dual CPU's

All these screenies are making me itch to build a dual quad core beastie myself...I've recently added a few more folding machines...but not enough...

I am happy to announce that in a few days time I will bring online 9 or so 24/7 P4 2.4GHz rigs. Today I added two part time Athalon 3000+'s, and one other part time 2.0GHz P4. That should make a dent.

Unfortunately my main dual core rig refuses to run the folding @ home client and my AMD 3400+ is dead in the water. :/

Must fold more...I need an octacore computer.

    Dual CPU's

It really galls me that there is no fully working F@H client which runs on SUN SPARC hardware. We've got a pair of Sun enterprise 6800's here they only have 1.2Ghz processors, but each one has 16 of them and 32GB of RAM. Old hardware, but I bet it could fold.

Those 2.4Ghz rigs should help, My 1.6GHz do 340 point work units in under 4 days.

I think the only ones you can get like that are those nasty Intel Itanic jobs.

For the octacore I was refering to dual 4-core CPUs...perhaps this summer after moving and selling this house I could afford one. Anyways, I will hopefully get those going sunday or monday.

    RE: Dual CPU's

I'll be slowing down for a while. I've had to drop my Dual 5150 Xeon from folding, to put it to some real use as an ESX server.

Having said that Dell are going to be putting the AMD quad core chips in their 6000 series of 4U servers, paving the the way for Quad Quads. mmmmmmmmmmmm

I spy my new ESX server coming up, It might have to have a few months of burn in testing.

    Dual CPU's

Another machine update, well since I dropped my 5150 out, my PPD has halved. However, I have managed to get Xubuntu under esx running on it. So it is now back running the linux 64bit SMP client which should put the PPD up a fair bit.

Also just arrived I have another dual E5335 with 8GB of ram, this one will fold for a week before going into the live environment. I do have to say that their PPD is slightly disappointing, they should produce 40% more than the 5150s but I'm not seeing that. I might have to start specing my next round of boxes with faster quad cores X5355 would be ideal, but not sure I can swing it. The X5355 is two 5150's on one chip, so if I can get one it would be a beast hopefully 80% more PPD than the dual 5150. Just have to hope that the UPS can cope with the monstrous current draw of these servers when the run @ max load.

Man I love have the backing to massively over spec servers and the "test" them for months.

    Dual CPU's

Well just to make things interesting, I have had to drop my 2nd dual E5335 and put it into a live environment

How ever, I have just had two Dual Xeon X5355 machines arrive. The X5355 is a quad core running @ 2.66Ghz, 8MB of lvl2 cache. The boxes are spec'd with 16GB of ram.
Each one packs just over 21Ghz of folding power.

Screenies to follow when built (hopefully by tomorrow night to really boost the weekends folding).

     Very nice!

Now is this with SMP, single thread of Folding, or are you firing up 8 windows and assigning them each to a core?
