Dual Xeon not up to it!

    Greetings all,
Its not new kit but it is to me!
At the weekend I bought a Tyan dual CPU m/b for the Intel Xeon 604 cpu. I have installed 2 cpus, 1GB ram,and my Nvidia 6600Gt AGP card. I wasnt expecting much for gaming etc but did expect my video conversions etc to be a bit quicker than my old pc. Old pc was the same agp card and ram but with a gigabyte m/b and only a 2400+ AMD athlon socket A.

My whole issue it that my AMD knocks it on the 3dmark2003 and is just generally all round smoother than the Xeon while working on the machine. i.e mutiple apps etc.
I did not expect it to improve my gaming quality but it has made it worse. I thought I would check the CPU usage while burning and playing games, I can barely get the CPUs up to over 40% . So I reckon they are doing there job.

If I knew beforehand that the machine wasnt going to improve I would have just bought a AMD64 and had done with it. The m/b and cpus set me back quite a bit, but I also had to mahe sure what ever I bought matched up my graphics card and ram.

My question is does anybody have any experience with these setups, is it all a lost cause for me or is there a chance I need to set it up a little bit more?

    cheers

How did you end up posting this in the Folding section?

You should have posted this in the CPU section...or the Tech Support section. A mod will move it for ya.

Anywho...did you put a clean load of Windows on this machine..or did you just take the drive from the other system and put it in this one?

Ahh. MOD please move my post!
Sorry guys I was flicking through different tabs and must have been in the wrong section when I wanted to start the post, my bad.

Yeah the original windows wouldnt load up anyway. So I did a sysprep of the old windows and all that did was reboot the machine when it tried to load the minisetup. So a clean full install of XP pro it was.
