The sad news is, and I really hate to say this, but it's not because we've been powering up so much as it is a general trend away from folding My output was unchanged for months barely going up or down, but my rank increased from #5xxx to my current rank of number #3xxx and honestly it has little to do with any recent changes, but I expect my recent changed to vault me up a bit faster.

I think we've even seen the trend here - folding@home started small, but somehow some way it got noticed and we hit a peak in terms of #'s of users, but that has since slacked off and now there remains the core group of hardcore people.

I'd imagine other teams are going through this too - it's hard to keep interest in something like folding@home for as long as they have, and while it's not going away, I'd imagine that overall unit production isn't where it was a year ago.

It's hard to get the folding power and commitment and then maintain that commitment. However all i can say is look at hardocp and their core group of folders. i wish we could get as organized as they are and if we only had half of folding members that that team has got hothardware would really be doing something.

I can't help but feel the team doesn't get enough time on the front page. We could have a bigger team if we had more exposure. Thats not saying that the team isn't doing anything but you would think that the team would get more frontpage exposure. I was a member for at least 3 years before i bothered to see what the folding forum was. To think of the lead time on Silentspectre i could of had.

I believe the problem is that people don't understand what folding is, and the fact that instead of having a computer idle at home hey what now put it in used for something so helpfull as folding.

I agree , but its a lake of anything on the frontpage to pique the curiosity to what folding is about. You can count all the times in the last 2 years something was on the front page for folding. You know just a hey folks there's this thing called folding and we actually already have a team for it, on both hands. I can't count all the times i see something about folding on hardocp. It was there i found out about folding and such and went to folding team not on hardocp but right here on hothardware to show my support for my favorite hardware site. This place is home for me and i like to see our team bigger and better even if it means i have to let 2nd place go it would be ok as long as it meant the team was progressing. Just not to Silentspectre

Silentspectre and i have been nipping at one another's heals for a couple years now and i thought i had him put back for good , however i have lost alot of folding power over the last 6 months and can't afford to replace it. I really tried everything to keep my spot but it's time after a year i guess that it went to someone else. I have alot of respect for Silentspectre since we started folding about the same time and he is a contributing member in the forums and such. I feel silent is certainly a friend and have really enjoyed his competative spirit and believe me this is far from over between me and him, i will get my spot back it's only a matter of time. Not to mention i have made the decision to fold for the remainder of my life as long as there is a need for this project i will do my part. I have also made the arrangments just in case something should ever happen to me that my equipment will carry on without me to fold as long as the machines hold together in my name. Yes i am that serious about it i feel this project can help millions of people someday soon . I feel better knowing that even after I'm long gone people will make sure I'm a thorn in silentspectre side.
