It's amazing how fast graphics cards are getting. I mean every time Futuremark bring out a punishing new benchmarking utility, ATI and nVidia just trounce them with the latest setups.

I know, btw, I only got to push that overclock just a little further, and ended up at 10404 marks in 06. I started at 8722 before any overclocking, which is quite an impressive gain. Considering the difference bettwen the start and finish is almost what some people's entire scores are. I benched it in CS:S at 1680x1200 with every maxed 6x/16x HDR, ect and scored 251fps. That is insane. I'm jealous of my friend...

Lou784, that is an impressive overclock on that Opteron 165. I have the 170 and get shut down at 2.7GHz on air. Air you running water cooling or a pelt. or just air?

Hi, I'm running the 4 heat pipe Opteron / X2 cooler. And yes, I am very lucky that to get these speeds I just got that chip last week after selling my X2 3800+. I ordered an OEM 165 Opty off newegg for just $139 and lucky for me I got a CCBBE 0615DPMW stepping which averages 2.8 ghz according to this website:
Opteron steppings

But anyways, I run that at still just stock voltage and tested 2 instances of SP2004 for several hours, played BF2142, and it never crashed or anything which led me to believe it's stable. I've actually went as high as 2.89 ghz in SUPER PI and got a 28 second run but that wasn't 100% stable as under dual priming it would error after about 4 min. And that too was at stock voltage BTW. I'm going to wait a while and let it burn in before I find it's limit then try for higher speeds later with maybe a slight bump in voltage. Load temps even with the stock cooler are 51C which is very nice. Also one of the main reasons why I run it at stock voltage so heat wont be an issue.

I didn't get so lucky, mine was said to crap out around 2.5GHz, but I ended up pushing it with a bit of extra voltage. I knew I should have gone for the Opteron 165. :-/

Yea, I Hear you. I first thought about the Opty 170 because of the 10x Multiplier, but after doing a lot of research, I found that people were more likely to get a better stepping with the 165 then with the 170. And I of course with a highly OC friendly DFI Lanparty MB that I knew would have no trouble trouble clocking the 165 very high even with the lower 9x multiplier.

And overall I'm glad I did get the 165, since well for one thing it was cheaper and the fact that I got the good CCBBE stepping.

With my setup I got 9217.

I wonder if my new stick of ram will make a difference.

I need a guide, I need to learn how to overclock PCI Express videocards. Migrated from AGP to PCI Express and the OCing is a bit different lol.

Oh are you talking about the CPU test? because in 06 you should be getting ALOT more than 1150 total, with your setup.

Just ran a bench on 3dmark 06 and i pull a 10,248 . I'm running a c2d e6400 at 3.1, 8800gts 640mb at spec, 2gigs of ram and a raid 0 on xp. Only pull 8800's on vista 32bit, until nvidia gets decent drivers out the door for vista it's useless for gaming at least with out major performance loss.

That's about as high as I can go for now until I move to a core 2, but still a pretty descent score for a socket 939 AMD system. Cool
