The next installment in the Call of Duty series now has an official launch date: November 6. It’s a rather interesting date because November 6 is actually on a Friday, which is more typical of a new movie release than the usual Tuesday that is more common for new music and video game releases. Regardless of its launch date, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well as PC. There’s no word yet on when gamers still rocking a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 will have the honor of picking up the game, but that information will come in due time. It... Read more...
FEMA is gearing up for Zombie Awareness Month (October, of course) as part of its clever – and very successful – emergency preparedness public education campaign. And it’s using webinars and blogs to get the word out. We bet you had no idea that the Federal Emergency Management Agency could be so hip. As it turns out, the whole thing started in early 2011 with the CDC asking people what they were prepared for via Twitter. When “zombies” started popping up among real emergencies, the agency fleshed out a marketing plan that was easy on the budget and, it turned... Read more...
Over the weekend, NVIDIA announced the dual-GK104 powered GeForce GTX 690. If you missed the announcement, the details are available right here. While we’re not able to give you the full run-down on the GeForce GTX 690’s performance just yet, we did uncover one more details we wanted to share. Well, we’ve just found out exact what those pry bars were for...     When the doorbell... Read more...
Last Thursday, Valve released "The Passing," a much-anticipated update to its popular Left 4 Dead series that features the protagonists of the original L4D meeting up with the Left 4 Dead: The Next Generation cast. In addition, the DLC promised new weekly "Mutations," new co-operative modes of play, and an as-yet unidentified bug that crashes the game on any GeForce GTX 400-series product. We're assuming this last is not a hidden feature. Google for "L4D2 197.41," the latter being the latest set of GeForce drivers and the only set, including beta versions, that supports the GTX 400 series, and... Read more...
Ah, Christmas. The word itself conjures images of hearth and home, inspires (occasionally debaucherous) celebration, and is a time of spiritual contemplation for millions. In this crazy modern age, it's also a time when the bewildered parents of tech-savvy children all over the civilized world, regardless of race, ethnicity, religious background, or nationality are united through the magic of a single shared emotion—panic. From October to December, the advertising departments of a thousand companies exhort children to beg, cajole, and guilt-trip their parents for all manner of inappropriate digital... Read more...
