There are quite simply too many iPod speaker dock options to count. Everywhere you look, another company is coming out of the woodwork in order to introduce an iPhone or iPod dock. Most everyone who would ever want one probably already owns one, but for those who are getting ready to get their first iPod this holiday season, Yamaha has a great option. It's stylish, powerful and should look good in just about any bedroom. The TSX-140 desktop audio system also has a great feature for bedrooms: it can wake you gradually with the sound of your favorite music. It can fade in the music rather than simply... Read more...
Here's the thing about most of today's media streamers: they don't have an optical drive. So even though they're capable of playing lots of content from the Internet, they can't play back your old DVD or new Blu-ray Disc collection. This isn't a problem if you already own a Blu-ray or DVD player and also don't mind have two boxes under your television, but what if you want an all-in-one solution? Yamaha has asked themselves the same question, and the answer seems to be the BD-A1000. Called a "universal Blu-ray player," this sleek deck offers 1080p HD playback via HDMI of your favorite discs, but... Read more...
Apple's iPod and iPhone have garnered a huge amount of third-party attention. Accessory makers love these devices, and sound systems seem to be one of the more prevalent devices that are released. Most are rather common, with few sticking out above the rest. Even Apple had their own Hi-Fi system years back, but did away with it while allowing third-party companies to serve that demand. But the Yamaha PDX-31 looks better than most, and has a stylish design that few others can replicate. This new unit, which will ship in red, black and gray, has twin-wall construction, a handy remote for controlling... Read more...
Yamaha has been creating sound bars for years now, and they've been growing increasingly popular in homes where size is a problem. Apartments and one-bedroom studios haven't been able enjoy true surround sound due to the inability to shove 5, 6 or more speakers into their cramped living space. Sound bars have enabled those living places to enjoy faux surround sound, and these two new ones add even more to the mix. The YSP-5100 and YSP-4100 are the company's two newest Digital Sound Projectors, with each one using just a single speaker but "dozens" of audio beam drivers. They're designed to sit... Read more...
Yamaha has been beefing up its home audio line here in the fourth quarter of 2009, and with CES in just a few weeks, it seems as if the company is looking to get a jump on everyone else. Today, it has revealed its newest two-piece home theater package, which should fit perfectly in cramped studio apartments and in living rooms where space is at a premium. The YHT-S400 combines a super-slim sound bar with a subwoofer-integrated receiver, the latter of which looks nothing like anything we've ever seen. The kit provides HD Audio compatibility three 1080p-compatible HDMI inputs (and one output), the... To say that the iPod has revolutionized the stereo world would be understating things rather dramatically. Take Yamaha's MCR-410 for instance, which is a new micro stereo system that not only features a dock connecting port on the top, but also has the capability to connect with an iPod without cords. For all the things that the iPod is, it's not really a player to think of when you want a wireless solution. Yamaha's using its own proprietary yAired technology to change that, and the solution looks pretty darn elegant. The MCR-410 looks somewhat vintage in its styling, but it's actually fairly...
