When AMD announced its first tablet APU earlier this year, codenamed Desna, it was obvious that the chip was more a proof-of-concept than an actual shipping part. Factors outside AMD's control, such as the limitations of Windows 7 when running on a tablet, have kept consumer interest in x86 tablets to a minimum. It's a foregone conclusion that just about every notebook and PC maker will be at least thinking of making a tablet over the next year. Apple's iPad has sold well over 3 million units in only a few months, so it has become clear to everyone else that the market exists. Now, it's time for them to capitalize.
