Taking a note from its Galaxy S III playbook, it appears Samsung may be preparing to launch the Galaxy Note II on all of the major US wireless carriers. Unlike the original Galaxy Note which initially launched on AT&T's network and later became available on T-Mobile's network, reports on the Web suggest the Galaxy Note II could be made available through AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular. Verizon Wireless is bringing 4G LTE mobile broadband to 24 new markets starting today. With this addition, Verizon Wireless claims it is offering 4G LTE to more than 75 percent of the U.S. population. Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is crashing Verizon's 4G LTE party starting on August 17, which is when you'll be able to buy the tablet outright from Big Red for $350 with no data contract required. Verizon Wireless customers have reason to celebrate today, at least the ones using Android devices. Following an investigation, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruled that VZW is not allowed to block third-party tethering apps on Android devices, and must also pay a $1.25 million fine to settle the investigation. Earlier this year, Verizon Wireless set out to cover more than 400 markets with its 4G LTE network by the end of the year. With the addition of 33 new markets and the expansion in 32 additional markets, the wireless carrier appears to be right on track to reach that goal. Business is good for Verizon Wireless (VZW). Real good. For the second consecutive quarter, Big Red posted double-digit percentage growth in year-over-year earnings, which went up 12.3 percent. Verizon's Wireless division generated record-high margins, thanks in part to millions of smartphone sales. Verizon Wireless launched a new mobile game subscription service for Android called GameTanium. This service provides access to more than 100 Android smartphone games and more than 50 tablet games for $5.99 per month per device.
