According to the Seattle Times, erstwhile mobile device maker i-mate has something amazing brewing: a 4.7-inch phone that runs a full version of Windows 8 Pro--not Windows Phone 8, mind you--and also docks into a station that includes a 27-inch monitor, a wired business-looking desktop phone, and a separate “auxiliary” 10.1-inch tablet. The phone, called the “Intelegent”, reportedly features an Intel Atom (Clover Trail) processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, 4G network connectivity, and up to 10 hours of talk time on a single battery charge. Wired has posted their list of annual Vaporware awards, and you'll never guess what tops the list yet again this year. Yes, you guessed it--Duke Nukem Forever. The 12-year (and counting) development cycle and subsequent leaks of screenshots, game footage, and what have you of DNF, has got to be one of the longest running jokes in the industry...this game can't possibly still be in development..."After some twelve (12!) years in development, we had given up all hope of ever seeing Duke Nukem Forever hit the shelves. We even held a high-level meeting in the Wired newsroom where we agreed to end the... Read more...
MIT's Nicholas Negroponte has been touting his idea of giving an inexpensive laptop to kids in developing countries. His One Laptop Per Child foundation started out with a per unit target of $50 by 2010, then became widely publicized as the $100 laptop project.  How far have the goalposts moved to date?  Well, you can have one for $188 -- if you buy two and give one away. Negroponte's plan to heal the world with laptops is well-meaning but fundamentally flawed. What good is a laptop in the middle of rural Thailand when electricity, much less Internet access, are spotty at best? Rather... Read more...

Our testing has been good," said AT&T Chief Operating Officer Randall Stephenson. "The iPhone is on target to launch in June." The iPhone has become one of the most highly awaited product debuts since Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs demonstrated a prototype of the device in January. The statement was refreshingly lacking in the word "hopefully.".... Read more...

Still not sure?  Here's another hint.... Read more...
Wired has posted their latest installment of their annual Vaporware awards for your viewing pleasure. In this industry, it is not uncommon to have a long list of unfulfilled promises from vendors to bring the greatest new products to market. From Microsoft Vista to a handful of highly anticipated software titles like the infamous Duke Nukem Forever, there are certainly a handful of widely known failures to execute. The ever-delayed debut of Microsoft's next version of Windows, Vista, is a long-running vaporware joke. It's been put off so many... Read more...
