NVIDIA has always been the master of the tech demo.  And though they've previously shown Epic's Unreal Engine 4 in action on even mobile platforms like their forthcoming Tegra K1 mobile SoC, there's nothing like a new flagship graphics card to serve as a vehicle to demonstrate the latest in game engine advancements.  It's showcases like these that demonstrate the progress being made toward photo-realism and real-time physics in live action graphics and game play. Toward the end of his keynote speech on Monday, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang shifted the focus of his presentation from graphics... Read more...
Nvidia may have just announced GameWorks support will be baked into Unreal Engine 4, but the Red Team is firing back with its own announcement today: Upcoming versions of Cryengine will support AMD's Mantle API. Just to be clear, this announcement refers to an upcoming engine that hasn't been used for a shipping title yet -- Cryengine 3, the engine that powered Crysis 3, has been retired in favor of a new-from-the-ground-up approach. The new CryEngine will support the Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, and PC spaces and we're honestly a bit surprised to see Crytek jumping onboard with AMD. I spoke to Crytek... Read more...
Before you read any further, be sure you have a clean pair of underpants to change into, because this is the sort of thing that can make you soil yourself in excitement. Lest you think we're being absurd, consider that NVIDIA just put the smackdown on those who doubt its upcoming Kepler architecture will be anything but awesome by allowing its next-generation GPU to make a surprise appearance at Epic's panel session during the Game Developer Conference (GDC). While there, Epic demonstrated that it's possible to run its grueling Unreal Engine 3 tech demo called "Samaritan" on a single Kepler-based... Read more...
3D just might be taking over the world, but that's perfectly okay in NVIDIA's eyes. This means that every single game based around... Read more...

Hello everyone!  I hope you're all having a good weekend so far.  I was gearing up for some benchmarking and writing, and thought I'd poke around the web for something fun before getting down to business.  I stumbled across a couple of videos at YouTube that I just had to share. I'm probably showing my age a bit, but I don't care!  I've always been a proud geek; not about to get shy now. :) Anyway, how many of you remember BitBoys Oy? They were working on the "Glaze3D" 3D accelerator which never materialized back in the days when 3dfx was on... Read more...
