While hardwired connections always trump wireless ones when it comes to longstanding reliability and sustained transfer rates, it's obvious that a wireless world is the one we're headed for. Samsung just so happens to recognize that, which is why it's trotting out a new development in the Wi-Fi space that could send files, photos, and whatever else from point to point at record speeds. Will the Internet ever truly be "fast enough?" Doubtful. In an effort to keep the bytes flowing at a breakneck rate, six of the world's leading research and education (R&E) networks and two commercial partners today demonstrated for the first time a Transatlantic 100 gigabits-per-second (Gbps or one billion bits per second) transmission link for research and education between North America and Europe. Verizon's FiOS fiber network has always been impressive and it has always been promising compared to standard coax networks.  The mere thought of having a fiber-optic link direct to your home has been quite appealing to many. But a few months ago, Verizon reportedly decided to pause, or halt altogether, their roll out of more FiOS locales.
