Go ahead, try your best not to be as giddy as a school girl who just scored an autograph from Channing Tatum when watching the newest Star Wars trailer. The only difference is, instead of gushing over the Magic Mike character the way your mom used to drool over John Travolta, it's the long overdue reunion of Chewbacca and Han Solo that will elicit a nerdgasm. That's right folks, Disney has brought back Harrison Ford, who will reprise his role as Han Solo alongside his loyal Wookie sidekick. How big a role it will be isn't known, though with the delivery of a single line, Star Wars fans around the... Read more...

Here’s a dose of ”Rebel” goodness to tide you over while you wait for the next Star Wars trailer. A drone enthusiast in France recently graced YouTube with a few videos of a self-built quadcopter with a shell designed to look like the Millennium Falcon. It’s enough to make a Star Wars fan tear up.  The drone features a blue thruster light, just like the “real” Millennium Falcon, and has bright front lights as well. Its creator, who goes by “Oliver C” on YouTube, has some serious modding skills. He details his builds at RCGroups.com, taking fellow enthusiasts step by step through the process... Read more...
Amidst rumors and leaked images, Star Wars fans finally get a glimpse of the new movie. The teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens has been released online for everyone to watch. Clocking in at 90 seconds, the teaser trailer opens up with a shot of the desert, which could be Tattooine, with a voice in the background asking, “There has been an awakening, have you felt it?” Shortly afterwards a Stormtrooper pops up without his helmet looking distressed and taking quick, short breaths before turning his head at the sound of droids setting up a sinister and dark tone for the... Forget the bigger screen television (you'll just have to be content with your 65-incher), faster motorcycle (Kawasaki's Ninja H2R isn't street legal anyway), or any other purchases you might have had on your radar -- if you're going to splurge an obscene amount of money on technology, find a way to get your hands on Bandai Namco's Star Wars: Battle Pod arcade game. Yes, we thought arcades were dead too, but if you're going to revive the coin-op era of gaming, this is the way to do it. The Star Wars: Battle Pod is described as a high-speed arcade game set in the Star Wars galaxy. It has arcade-exclusive... Read more...
When Star Wars: The Old Republic made news in September, it was for announcing that one of the mythos' most enduring antiheroes, the onetime Sith Lord Revan, would be making an appearance in the MMO. Now, a new bug could wipe some of that goodwill off the map. Modder and TOR enthusiast SWTorMiner has created a video that shows him fixing a simple visual bug (introduced in one of the recent game patches) to make a character's eyewear render properly. (I've artificially lightened the screen cap below so that it's easier to tell the difference.) Fixing a bit of character geometry might seem like a... Read more...
No, your PC can't run Crysis online, not after June 30, 2014, anyway. It doesn't matter how big and burly your setup is, playing Crysis online will no longer be an option after next month, as it's one of about a trillion and a half titles (small exaggeration) getting booted offline this summer and beyond. The list of games starts with Lord of Ultima, the only title scheduled to be shut down today. On October 1, 2014, Electronic Arts will kick World Series of YAHTZEE (free for iOS) offline. Sandwiched in between those two titles are a whole bunch of popular games, all scheduled to go dark on June... Read more...
As we posted about over the weekend, Rovio teased us all with a image for an upcoming game, and it might just have been the easiest one to guess ever - after all, an angry bird projecting a Darth Vader shadow isn't too subtle. Today, Rovio confirms that its ultra-popular Angry Birds Star Wars game is getting a sequel. This comes as no surprise, of course, given the original scored over 100,000,000 downloads. Numbers like those still never cease to blow my mind. In the aforementioned post, Paul suggested that this game could tackle the franchise's prequels - and it appears he was spot-on. Given... You didn't really think Rovio was finished milking its Angry Birds franchise, did you? That would be like shutting down a gold mining operation before you've run out of pay dirt. There's still plenty of money to be made, especially with Rovio having licensed the rights to use Star Wars characters and themes in its games, of which there will be another title. An official announcement will come after the weekend, but in the meantime, Rovio offered up the following teaser pic of what's to come: "Attention, Angry Birds fans! Stay tuned on Monday, July 15th, for big news about a brand new game!," Rovio... Read more...
One of the apparent casualties of Disney's decision to hand EA the reins of Star Wars development is the Wii U. DICE is one of the studios that EA confirmed would be working on Star Wars property, alongside Bioware and Visceral. The Battlefield developer has previously stated that the next generation of the Frostbite engine wouldn't run on the Wii U (meaning no Battlefield 4 for Nintendo's console), but new comments indicate that there's no chance of a Frostbite 2-powered game, either. EA's initial announcement confirmed that future titles would be running on Frostbite 3. A reader then asked Johan... Read more...
When Disney closed LucasArts earlier this year and canceled all of the games under development, it left the future of video games within Star Wars franchise in serious doubt. Now we know what that future is going to look like -- it's got a giant EA logo stamped on it. According to the joint press release, EA now has the exclusive rights to " develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres, while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories."... May 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars Day (May the Fourth/Force be with you) has come and gone, and if you were too busy geeking out to Iron Man 3's opening weekend or celebrating Cinco de Mayo, you might have missed out on Steam's weekend-long Star Wars sale. If that's the case, toss another cup of coffee at that hangover and head over to Steam, there's still time to save some Corellian coin. The entire Star Wars Franchise is on sale, with each individual title marked down by 66 percent. Alternately, you can buy the bundled collection at half-off for $50. Titles included in the collection are... Read more...
