Star Wars has a new villain who wears a mask, that of Kylo Ren who appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first of a new trilogy of sequels that Disney plans to release two years apart from one another. But what of Darth Vader? Rumor has it he'll appear as his old self in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of three planned spin offs. The spin offs are standalone films that flesh out subplots in the main series. Rogue One will kick things off by focusing on events that occurred shortly before Star Wars: A New Hope, otherwise known as Episode IV (the original Star Wars movie released in... Read more...
Although updated sales figures haven’t yet been released, and some initial reviews were less than stellar, if the movie is any indicator, EA’s Star Wars Battlefront is poised to be a resounding success in the gaming community. And with an expansion pack inbound, that will likely feature content that ties in with the Force Awakens, it’ll probably continue that success for quite a while. AMD has been offering free copies of Star Wars Battlefront to new buyers of Radeon Fury graphics cards since mid-November 2015 and will continue to do so through the end of this month. But with... Smartwatches in general have been met with much skepticism ever since they started crossing most peoples’ radars in 2014. The biggest criticism leveled against smartwatches is that they duplicate much of the functionality found on smartphones (which themselves are already quite convenient), in turn making them $250+ gadgets that we don’t really need in the first place. While some of that may be true, Taiwanese researchers from PVD+ are at least using a smartwatch to pull of some pretty amazing tricks. In this case, the research team has written a software algorithm that turns an Apple Watch into... Read more...

Some spiteful users are going out their way to post spoilers for the movie on the site, and the reddit community has brought out the pitchforks. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is likely to be the biggest movie of 2015, and it’s been over a decade since the release of Revenge of the Sith — or if you’re like me, it’s been 32 years since the last real Star Wars movie was released. Needless to say, fans are extremely excited... Read more...

Sorry all you rebel scum, but I've joined the Dark side. You can too through a new collaboration between Google and Disney that will see all of your Google accounts get a themed makeover. Or if you'd rather, you can join the Light side, otherwise known as the losing side at the moment (though not by much). Once you choose a side, Google will get busy transforming your online experience in a number of fun and creative ways. After choosing the Dark side, the background for my Gmail account changed to reflect my path, though there's quite a bit more to enjoy than just glorified wallpapers and the... Read more...
We didn’t see this one coming. A new Japanese trailer for what is likely to be this year’s biggest movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was posted this morning by Disney Japan. And rather than just rehash a bunch of scenes that we’ve seen in previous trailers, there’s a whole lot of fresh action going on here. Coming less than a month after the last Star Wars trailer dropped, the new trailer full of action and even allows us to hear the cute little BB-8 droid “speak” for the first time. We also see Finn and Rey meet for the first time and even get an ever so brief glimpse of fan favorite C-3PO.... Read more...

Is that a robot in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? We’ve seen some crazy contraption come out of Japan over the years, but this is one of the cutest and most intriguing products that has come across our news desk. The gadget in question is called the RoboHon, and at first glance it looks like a friendly little robot — and you wouldn’t be wrong to make such an assumption. But RoboHon, which is manufactured by Sharp, has a whole gaggle of tricks up its sleeve including the ability to walk, stand up, sit down, and even dance. RoboHon is also incredibly “intelligent” with the capacity... Read more...

We learned late last week that the beta launch for the hugely anticipated Star Wars Battlefront will drop on October 8. That means just one thing: both AMD and NVIDIA have scrambled to get their engineering teams to churn out optimized drivers. As it so happens, AMD is the first out the door with one. This isn't a huge surprise, though, as the company seems to be keeping well in tune with the game's developers. This past summer, during the company's Fury family reveal, it helped wrap the event up with an exclusive trailer for Battlefront. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if AMD announced a... (That is, so long as it doesn’t suffer the miserable launches we’ve seen other blockbusters endure.) After teasing us with promises of an open Beta, the company has finally announced the date that Beta will begin: October 8th. The Beta will run from October 8th to the 12th, after which we’ll all be back to impatiently waiting for the official launch of the game, which is set for November 17th.
