It's always great when we can catch up with China, isn't it?  After all, China used SMS alerts to warn citizens over Typhoon Kaemi in 2006.The plan stems from the Warning Alert and Response Network Act, a 2006 federal law that requires upgrades to the emergency alert system. The deal comes as BitTorrent, which became known for developing software technology widely used to illegally share files, is trying to reinvent itself. Romanian antivirus firm, BitDefender, claims to have discovered malicious code in Google's AdSense service.  Google has been swift to respond:Google said on Wednesday: "We have canceled customer accounts that display ads redirecting users to malicious sites or that advertise a product violating our software principles.""We actively work to detect and remove sites that serve malware in both our ad network and in our search results. Video game behemoth Electronic Arts just got a little bigger. They've acquired two software studios, BioWare and Pandemic, for  an industry record breaking $860 million.  Although Electronic Arts is the number one video game publisher in the world, their offerings in the first person shooter/ role playing/action genre are a little  thin. These acquisitions should fix that.Prior to this deal, EA's largest acquisition was its $680 million purchase of mobile game publisher Jamdat Mobile Inc. in 2006. Obviously this is a rumor, and should be treated as such.  But reports from India, where Google is reportedly trying to strike an exclusive deal with one of the carriers, indicate that the gPhone will launch in two weeks, in both Europe and the U.S. Sources close to the development said a simultaneous launch across the US and Europe is expected, and announcements would be sent to media firms in India and other parts of the world.
