AMD is launching a new family of products today, but unless you follow the rumor mill pretty closely, it’s probably not something you’d expect. It’s not a new CPU or APU. And it’s not a new GPU or memory kit either. Well then, “what could it be” you ask? Today, AMD is launching its first line of solid state drives (SSDs), targeted squarely at AMD enthusiasts. Whodathunkit? AMD is calling the new family of drives, the Radeon R7 Series SSD, similar to its popular mid-range line of graphics cards. The new Radeon R7 Series SSDs feature OCZ and Toshiba technology,... Read more...

There's a great deal riding on the launch of AMD's next-generation Kaveri APU. The new chip will be the first CPU to incorporate significant architectural changes to the Bulldozer CPU AMD launched two years ago and the first chip to use a graphics core derived from AMD's GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture, which debuted on the desktop two years ago as well. A strong Kaveri launch could give AMD back some momentum in the enthusiast business -- and that's something the company could use. Now, leaked slides point to a Kaveri APU that's coming in hot -- possibly a little hotter than AMD anticipated.... Read more...
A ton of AMD related news hit over the last couple of weeks, thanks in no small part to a multi-day event AMD held in Honolulu, Hawaii the company held to showcase all of its upcoming GPU technology. Along with a new interface, hopefully this version will be void of many of the problems with the previous version(quirky offline mode support, and occasional problems downloading games to name a few). The friends network still isn't working, so don't get rid of X-Fire just yet. Just restart Steam to receive the update.
