Well, we’re guessing that this isn’t the response that indie developer Twisted was expecting. Earlier this week, Twisted announced that it was releasing its own native app for Windows that provides remote play capabilities for PlayStation 4 games. Twisted confirmed that the app would cost $10 as it “sadly [is] the only way to support my living costs.” Unfortunately for Twisted, it appears that Sony isn’t about to let a third-party developer profit from an app that it could easily offer for free. Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, took to Twitter to let PlayStation... Read more...

Thanks to the New Xbox One Experience update, Xbox One users not only get a Windows 10-esque user interface, but they also get Xbox 360 backwards compatibility along with Xbox One to Windows 10 game streaming. Given all of these fresh goodies that Microsoft is providing to gamers, it’s understandable that some PlayStation 4 fans might feel a bit neglected by Sony. However, it appears that at least one developer is looking to give PlayStation 4 gamers some functionality that Sony has yet to provide: PlayStation 4 to PC game streaming. Developer Twister has announced its plans to release its Remote... Read more...
Late last week, we were greeted with the wonderful news that Microsoft is cutting prices by $50 across-the-board for its Xbox One consoles. That means the “lowly” 500GB console bundles will be priced at $299 from November 26th through November 30th. Sony, which recently trimmed the regular retail price of the PlayStation 4 from $399 to $349, isn’t about to let Microsoft head into the busy holiday shopping season with a significant pricing advantage. As a result, the PlayStation 4 is also getting a matching price cut, dropping temporarily from $349 to $299. The pricing applies to just a single SKU:... Read more...
The console wars are in full force as we head into the holidays. Yes, you can expect discounted bundles and all that jazz, but when deciding your platform of choice, it comes down to things like game selection and features. A big feature that's coming to the PlayStation 4 is the ability to play PlayStation 2 games through emulation. This is a pretty big deal for Sony and its PlayStation line. The PS4 is the company's first console to launch without some sort of backwards compatibility, a fact that was recently highlighted when Microsoft introduced an Xbox 360 emulator inside its Xbox One system.... We were mighty impressed when we learned last month that Dell will have a killer Black Friday sale which includes an Xbox One Gears of War bundle, Fallout 4 and an extra controller for $299. Not to be outdone, Sam’s Club is countering with its own enticing deal involving the PlayStation 4, which recently just saw its everyday price cut from $399 to $349. Sam’s Club will offer the PlayStation 4 for a low price of $299 next week in a pre-Black Friday sale. This marks a $50 price break from the “new” price of $349. The wording of the ad leads us to believe that the free game is just whatever game... Read more...
The holiday shopping season is fast approaching and that means little Johnny is going to make his annual pitch for a PlayStation 4 console. What's different this time around is he'll be able to say, "C'mom pop, Sony slashed the price by $50!" In years past, little Johnny would have been full of bologna, but not this time pop, not this time. Effective tomorrow, October 9th, the PS4's new price will be $350 in the U.S. and $430 CAD in Canada, down from $400 and $450 CAD, respectively. For you trivia buffs, this is technically the second time Sony has permanently lowered the price of the PS4 -- the... Read more...

At long last, you can purchase a PlayStation 4 console with 1TB of storage in the United States and Canada. That's the good news. Even better, the 1TB PS4 system from Sony is making its U.S. and Canadian debut in bundle form -- it includes a copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Ready for the bad news?Sony themed the only 1TB console available in the U.S. and Canada with Black Ops styling and the result is rather hideous. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I have no doubt some will call me crazy for dissing on the PS4's themed makeover. The rest, however, will agree that that this is... Read more...
The PlayStation 4 just received a price cut in Japan earlier this week. Sony reduced the price to 34,980 yen, which converts to roughly $292. Once word of the price cut hit the airwaves, everyone began wondering when Sony’s generosity would would extended to U.S. customers — after all, the PS4 has soldiered on for nearly two years at the same $399 price point here in the states. However, we have to consider that Sony really never had a reason to cut prices. Even though the PS4 is still currently priced $50 more than Microsoft’s Xbox One, it’s still by far the best-selling current generation gaming... Read more...
Sony is planning to cut the price of its popular PlayStation 4 console in Japan to 34,980 yen, or about $292 when converted to U.S. currency. The price reduction will go into effect on October 1, 2015, and only applies to Japan, though it's notable because it's the first time Sony has lowered the price of its PS4 system. If we're wearing our wishful thinking caps, we'd like to think that Sony might follow suit with a price drop in Europe to coincide with the Paris Games Week conference taking place later this month, which in turn could lead to a price cut in the U.S. market during the PlayStation... Market research firm NPD Group released its game sales data for the month of August, which were down 10 percent year-over-year to $207.9 million. This year's new releases just couldn't live up to the blockbuster titles that came out a year ago, including Diablo III for consoles and The Last of Us for PlayStation 4.This timer around, it was EA's Madden NFL 16 that topped the games sales chart, followed by Minecraft. Yes, Minecraft , and that's indicative of why sales are down. Having a game that made its first appearance in 2009 in alpha form and in 2011 as a polished product take the number two... Read more...
The Uncharted saga is coming to a close, and Sony has now given us a firm date for the beginning of the end. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4 March 18th 2016. This news comes after Sony announced in March that the title would be delayed until Spring 2016, as the “game [became] much more ambitious than we originally envisioned.” Now that the finish line is in sight, Sony is happy to deliver a few details on the three physical versions of the game that will be available for gamers.
