Nvidia posted its earnings for the second quarter of 2013 (Q2 of fiscal year 2014 by the company's reckoning) and the results are relatively great. The company posted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.16, beating analyst expectations by three cents, with total revenue of $977 million. While that's still a decrease of 6.6% compared to last year, it's a mitigated decrease in line with Intel's sales decline, as opposed to AMD, which saw revenue fall by 18% year on year. NVIDIA made some serious noise and surprised just about everyone in attendance a couple of days before the official opening of this year's Consumer Electronics Show, with the company’s official unveiling of its next-gen Tegra 4 SoC and a portable gaming device, code-named "Project SHIELD." This evening, NVIDIA made some bold moves at their CES 2013 press conference and announced a couple of potentially game-changing products. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang spent a little more than 90 minutes talking to a captive audience at the press conference, which was held at the posh Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. He used the first couple of segments to show off the GeForce Experience utility, which launched in beta form a few weeks back, and the GeForce GRID server platform.
