In the last half year, Dell has been busy revamping their entire desktop XPS lineup. First came the XPS 420 late last year, a premium multimedia workstation. Then Dell introduced a new mid-range gaming oriented desktop, the XPS 630 early this year. The 630 is a mid-tower sized gaming desktop styled after the flagship XPS 700 series but with more affordable components and a relatively thrifty price tag. We're always on the lookout for Asus Eee PC updates and today we've come up with some breaking news for you relative to the Windows XP variant that is due to hit the market in April.  Actually, it's more than just some breaking news; we've got one.  Though the machine isn't due out until sometime mid-next week, we were able to get our hands on a full retail bundle well before they hit store shelves in the US. More here... We generally don’t use integrated graphics. You might not use integrated graphics. But there are more motherboards with integrated graphics sold than discrete cards, according to data published last year by Jon Peddie Research. That means you probably have friends and family buying systems with built-in graphics engines. Guess what happens when the work day is done and you take them into battle with you through a little Enemy Territory or Company of Heroes?  Poor performance likely gets them killed over and over. NVIDIA has been the forerunner in multi-GPU rendering for a long time now.  With years of maturity and performance tuning, their SLI technology has shown very strong scaling when chaining a pair of GPUs together to tackle the 3D graphics processing workload.  We’ve seen quad-SLI on mid-range GPUs previously with NVIDIA’s GeForce 7950 GX2 but what about three GeForce 8800 Ultra cards strapped in under the hood?     Green-friendly, eco-minded, tree-huggers or those of you with weak constitutions for that matter; look away.  This might not be for you.  Put the kids... Today NVIDIA is finally unveiling the rumored and much anticipated GeForce 8800M series of mobile graphics processors. The 8800M is powered by the new G92M GPU which is built on a 65nm manufacturing process and, as its name suggests, it shares a lineage with the desktop-bound G92 GPU announced three weeks ago. When we first looked at the NVIDIA GeForce 8M series of mobile graphics chips, over six months ago in early May, the series had just been announced. At the time, the lineup only consisted of the 8400M mainstream series and the 8600M mid-range series. Although rumors had been circulating about the possibility of a high-end, G80-based enthusiast chip for some time, and hopes were high, none were announced. Thirty million transistors on the head of a pin.  Think about that for a minute.  Where on earth can you fit 30 million of anything in that amount of space?  It used to be that 30 million transistors was a good-sized chip.  These days, in a 45nm Hafnium-based High-K process, it almost seems like we (OK, OK, Intel...) can defy the laws of physics.  We're talking rocket science here people. This morning we have a performance preview of Intel's soon to be released Core 2 Extreme QX9770 quad-core processor.  Right on the heels of AMD's Phenom launch, Intel is seemingly going for the proverbial jugular.  At 3.2GHz and a blazing 1600MHz front side bus, the new high-end Core 2 Extreme chip should serve up a healthy shot of performance above and beyond what we've already seen from Intel's Yorkfield core.  Have a look for yourself...  ... Intel let a few members of the press get some hands-on time with their new 45nm quad-core processor, code-named Penryn today at IDF. Dual quad-core 3.4GHz processors were configured in a Seabird chipset-based dual socket system based on the Intel's Skulltrail platform, for a total of eight cores. Details, details...... During a closed door session at IDF, we had a chance to get some hands on time with a few upcoming Intel platforms including Skulltrail, the octa-core platform Intel is targeting at enthusiasts.  We also saw some dual-core 45nm desktop and mobile (Wolfdale) machines at work and even snapped off a few pics of a phase-change cooled, overclocked Skulltrail machine that was running at 4GHz.       Representatives from Intel wanted to get the point across that Wolfdale is going to be a very power friendly product and showed off a system... We've just posted a new article exploring the performance and overclockability of Intel's upcoming Core 2 Duo E6750 processor. The E6750 differs from the older and similarly clocked E6700 in that its front side bus frequency has been increased to 1333MHz, but this isn't a simple speed bump. The E6750 is also based on a new stepping and revision of the Conroe-core which resulted in some excellent overclocking. How does almost 4GHz with the stock air-cooler sound?
