As if there weren't enough Android tablets to wade through, here comes yet another. Pandigital has just expanded their Android Media Tablet line with the SuperNova, an 8", touch-based device that offers a capacitive display, Flash support, built-in Bluetooth and a rather tantalizing $229 price point. This guy will become the flagship product in the company's Android slate lineup, with HDMI out, front- and rear-facing cameras, a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with a dedicated graphics engine, BT 2.1, one-touch access to the Barnes & Noble e-book store, GetJar app store, Facebook, YouTube, personal... Earlier this year, Pandigital announced a firmware upgrade for its 7-inch Pandigital Novel line of products that transformed the eReaders into full Android tablets. Although the Pandigital Multimedia Novel 7-inch Android tablet doesn't have the same powerful processor or specs as some of the other tablets we've reviewed recently, its low price ($199.99 MSRP, street prices as low as $140 at the time of this writing), will certainly capture the attention of users who are looking for an eReader with added functionality for an affordable price... Digital photo frames just don't have the buzz that they once did. A couple of years ago, they were *the* holiday gift to give. Now, just about everyone that needs or wants one has one, so the hype surrounding them has died down. But now, companies are trying new tricks to market old devices. Pandigital's new photo frame is joining AT&T's network, with the Pandigital Photo Mail 8" Digital Photo Frame being one of the few digital frames that can download photos over the air as long as you can get AT&T reception. The wirelessly-connected digital photo frame displays photos emailed directly... Read more...
If you thought that the e-reader market was saturated already, here comes another one. Pandigital, which is no stranger to the market, has just introduced a new 6" ePaper model that more closely aligns with the options offered by Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Rather than using an LCD, which tends to drain more power, this model uses an e-paper display that's more gentle when it comes to energy drain. This new model also integrates the Barnes & Noble eBookstore, a touch panel and a 600x800 screen resolution. Users who are worried about glare need not worry here; like all other e-paper rivals,... Last we heard from Pandigital, the company was busy finishing up on a new connected digital photo frame designed to work with AT&T. But that was back at CES, and a lot of time has passed since then. Today, the company is venturing into another product sector, one that's crowded from top to bottom but still expanding rapidly thanks to the tablet revolution that has occurred this year. Yes, we're talking about the e-reader market, and Pandigital is hoping to bypass the need for E-Ink by relying instead on an LCD display. The new Novel e-reader doesn't get nearly the battery life of Amazon's Kindle... Read more...
We've seen digital photo frames shifting their feature set over the last few months in particular; it used to be that a large screen, maybe a Wi-Fi module and a few card slots made a decent frame. Now, it's not a standout frame without something really radical--something like a printer, or something like a live data connection with AT&T. T-Mobile's Cameo frame sparked this idea around a year ago, but that one barely took off. It has all but moved off of the radar screen, but we think more of that had to do with the odd selling situation than anything else. First, you had to be a T-Mobile customer... Read more...
