They say that patience is a virtue, but sometimes the excitement of a new system proves too tempting to wait a week or two for new technology that might be just around the corner. That was a case prior to Intel's Ivy Bridge launch, though there's no reason to kick yourself if you jumped the gun and ordered a rig from Origin PC. Why? The boutique system vendor dropped us a note to tell us it's currently "giving a free upgrade to Ivy Bridge processors on all desktop and laptop orders that were ordered prior to Ivy Bridge launch." How cool is that? Ivy Bridge desktops systems at Origin PC start at... Read more...
You may already be familiar with Origin PC's high octane EON17-S and EON15-S gaming laptops, but you've never seen them like this before. Sporting a complete redesign from the inside out, these are some of the first notebooks on the planet to feature Intel's next generation HM77 chipset (mobile Ivy Bridge). The redesigned EON17-S and EON15-S also boast mobile Kepler parts from NVIDIA, including GeForce GTX 660M, 670M, and overclocked 675M options. Combined with NVIDIA's Optimus technology, Origin PC claims you'll be able to squeeze up to 6.5 hours of battery life out these notebooks, which is two... Read more...

You know the drill by now: NVIDIA releases a new GPU, and pre-fab PC makers jump at the chance to upgrade their machines with the latest and greatest. This week, the GTX 560M was revealed for notebooks, and sure enough, it looks as if Origin PC was working in conjunction with NVIDIA. The reason? Because Origin has just made the 560M available on all of their laptops, including the beastly EON-17S. Pricing on those machines varies based on what other components you stuff in there, but trust us: the 560M isn't cheap. But what else would you expect from an option that just became available within... Read more...
Gaming desktops, by and large, are large. Ahem, or should we say, "towering?" Either way, the bulk of hardcore gaming desktops on the market today ship in massive cases, with plenty of room for extra PCIe cards, hard drives, and pretty much anything else you'd want to toss in there. But small form factor systems have a place in all of this as well, as shown by companies such as Shuttle. Origin PC is a company that started with just a towering desktop option, but as business has progressed, they've seen fit to reveal an SFF box as well. This week, they're introducing the Chronos, a smaller system... Read more...
Is this the world's ultimate gaming PC? You could probably argue either way, but we're pretty sure it's the world's ultimate entertainment machine. Pound for pound, you'll be hard pressed to find a desktop tower with more fun-per-square-inch than on Origin PC's new "Big O." This mammoth machine is unlike anything we have ever seen. Rather than just stuffing a flashy tower with the most cutting-edge components, Origin has decided to go above and beyond the call of duty. How so? By placing a top-of-the-line gaming PC and an Xbox 360 Slim inside a single tower. One tower, two gaming machines. This... Read more...
It's not easy out there for pre-fab PC makers. You're competing against giants like Dell, HP and Lenovo, and you're trying to sway consumers to purchase your brand even though you aren't running TV ads every half-hour. But when you look at a company like Alienware, you know it's still possible to hold an edge if you carve out your own niche. Origin PC is one of the newest pre-fab PC builders on the market, still looking to gain significant market share and attempting to offer unique components that the other guys simply brush off. OCZ Technology is a mainstay in the flash storage business, and... Read more...
It's just a fact of life at this point: everyone's doing it, so Origin PC might as well do it as well. Of course, we're talking about 3D. It's the buzzword of the year (much like "HD" last year), and it's reaching into sectors that never dreamed of being touched by it just a few months ago. Origin PC has yet to produce a great many machines (they're got a pretty tight lineup as-is), but they're making an exception and expanding out with the addition of a new 3D machine. The new machine is the EON15-3D, and it's basically just an EON15 notebook with a 3D flair. That means that you'll get a 3D panel,... Read more...
Origin PC made quite the entrance when they entered the gaming PC scene a few months ago, but it takes more than just two machines to really get any major chunk of market share. In order to suit even more needs, the company has just introduced the EON15, a 15" gaming notebook that packs plenty of power. Described as a machine that "doesn't make any compromises," this new rig sports an Intel Core i7 CPU, NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 285M GPU and 7.1 channel audio support. There's also a full-size keyboard with numeric pad, and those who love style will enjoy the personalized top cover painting by Killer... Read more...
There's a new company joining the ranks of boutique system builders with customization options that could turn the head of even the most die-hard DIY-er. The paint is scarcely dry on the Origin logo—the business opened on November 17th—but the corporation's three founders each spent a decade at Alienware prior to founding Origin. Their collective expertise is already evident; Origin offers unique customization options that set a new bar for what constitutes a "customizable" system. In this preview, we'll examine both the nascent company and the design of the review system it sent for evaluation;... Read more...
